It’s a continuous requirement for the USPS to hold 50 years worth of pensions on hand. It didn’t go away or is paid. The house had been continuously passing legislation since flipping in 2019. It still always languishes in Mitches desk, but because USPS is the backbone of something like 7 million jobs (not directly employed by mind you, but reliant on) it looks really bad on a lot of on the cusp GOP to openly go against it. It’s a political move and won’t fix anything beyond make the GOP look bad to people who could be out of work if the USPS completely shits itself.
