Oh, no, the Tricare is definitely not worth it.

But it's nice to know they're not really trying and would love to cut back on pretending.

Right before the RNC starts! That should be fun for Republican at-risk Senators to deal with.

Does this bill also fix the malicious retirement requirements the USPS got saddled with, and authorize them to fix their personnel problems by hiring more people, and re authorizing overtime?

I thought the USPS had finally paid all the retirement requirements.

Also I remember being told earlier this week that it didn't matter if the House passed any bills as the Senate wouldn't play ball. What changed? The Democrats finally figure out that inaction looks really really bad?

It’s a continuous requirement for the USPS to hold 50 years worth of pensions on hand. It didn’t go away or is paid.

The house had been continuously passing legislation since flipping in 2019. It still always languishes in Mitches desk, but because USPS is the backbone of something like 7 million jobs (not directly employed by mind you, but reliant on) it looks really bad on a lot of on the cusp GOP to openly go against it. It’s a political move and won’t fix anything beyond make the GOP look bad to people who could be out of work if the USPS completely shits itself.

Entirely an assumption but some (all?) of the USPS funding was tied up in the stalled corona bill and this seems like a call for a clean USPS bill only as well as bringing up the director for testimony

I thought USPS was self funded, which is why they had to make that ridiculous pension requirement exist to be able to hurt them financially?

quote:

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued an emergency authorization on Saturday allowing public use of a saliva-based test for the coronavirus developed at Yale University and funded by the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association.
---
Yale administered the saliva test to a group that included NBA players and staff in the lead-up to the league's return to play and compared results to the nasal swab tests the same group took. The results almost universally matched, according to published research that has not yet been peer-reviewed.

The leading coronavirus saliva test, developed at a Rutgers University lab and given the same permission by the FDA in mid-April, costs individual consumers up to $150 -- though that can be reduced to $60 or $70 in some circumstances, said Andrew Brooks, an associate professor at Rutgers and chief operating officer of RUCDR Infinite Biologics, the lab behind the test. The Rutgers test can be taken at home and returns results in 24 to 48 hours.

Several NBA teams used the Rutgers test in June, and Brooks said several sports teams are still using it. Those teams fly saliva samples to one of several labs -- including the Rutgers lab in New Jersey -- approved for administering the test, which adds time and cost.

The Yale test funded by the league and players' union is simple enough to be used by labs everywhere provided they go through required accreditation processes, said Nathan Grubaugh, an assistant professor of epidemiology at Yale and one of two senior authors, along with Anne Wyllie, an associate research scientist in epidemiology, behind the saliva studies. Consumers dribble saliva into a narrow tube. Depending on the proximity of the lab, consumers could get results back within a few hours -- and definitely within 24 hours, Grubaugh said.
---
"My goal is not to test athletes," Grubaugh said. "That's not my target population. My target population is everybody. There were concerns about partnering with the NBA when all these other people need testing. But the simple answer ended up being the NBA was going to do all this testing anyway, so why not partner with them and try to create something for everyone?"

The NBA, Yale and the players' association do not intend to take royalties from any use of the testing method, Grubaugh and others said. The NBA and union contributed more than $500,000 combined to fund the Yale work, sources told ESPN.

These people were, and are, negligently allowing Americans to die day after day. We're nearing 170k dead. These incompetent stupid assholes didn't do anything right - anything they got slightly right, they did too late, or didn't go far enough with it. Their incompetence has led directly to the deaths of nearly 170k people. Criminal negligence, and outright refusal to implement plans that would "only help blue states" is basically one step removed from murder.

I think it's safe to say that wishing death upon all of them is A-okay. They all deserve to rot in hell for what they've allowed, and continue to allow.

I've lost two friends to coronavirus. Several other friends are still on the mend and may have permanent complications from it. One thinks he has PTSD from the whole thing, being in a hospital for 20 days.

It's from "The Time Machine".

The Eloi were the humans that stayed on the surface and became idyllic passive / weak humans that lazed around in the daytime and retreated indoors at night in fear of the Morlocks who were the humans who lived underground who were intelligent and overly strong cannibals who came out at night and fed on the Eloi.
