The thing about getting heat like this is the people who don't follow the shows will never get that it is an angle and some of the people watching the shows won't either, so this will be referenced endlessly for months.

To be fair, a lot of the mishandlings of Bray's character have primarily been WWE's fault, because they're idiots. Also yeah the Fiend title belt was hideous & I think when it first showed up for sale it was nearly $2000

It’s a lot of things and the entire ensemble that makes Abadon look so crazy but I’d say perhaps the single most effective part of the look is her mouth with the paint and blackened teeth. Makes it look less like a mouth and more just a... hole. very unhuman

Abadon also has the benefit of being a fresh fun character, not a stained garbage gimmick like Bray. I think Bray Wyatt has always had potential, in an EVIL “I’m a spooky hard-hitting dude but ultimately not actually magic” kind of way, but they’ve only ever leaned into the dumb “actually magic” poo poo in an attempt to make him “the new Undertaker” or whatever. Problem being, of course, they’ve pulled the rug out from him any time he gained any kind of traction, and there’s a complete lack of self-awareness that drags the character down. Meanwhile, Abadon is equally/more spooky, but it doesn’t come off NEAR as hokey (maybe since she hasn’t had to deliver an overly-scripted rambling promo yet?). In the same way that Luchasaurus is “an actual dinosaur but not really,” I like that Abadon is being presented as “an actual zombie but not really.” It’s campy but deliberately so. Plus, as mentioned before, her make-up work is far better and more disturbing than the Fiend mask could ever be. AEW does a good job treading the line between “this is a serious sport” and “this is a goofy stageshow with silly characters,” which is something WWE has struggled with for years. Edit: also based on her Twitter Abadon seems like a sweetie

I've not been watching Dark, how's Abadon coming along? Her character covers for it loads but in the Shida and Jay matches she was obviously still pretty rough around the edges. Is she improving at all?
