HAHA YEAH HE PEED IN HIS OWN MOUTH I'M GONNA KEEP BRINGING IT UP.

There are a lot of people who come 2021 won't understand why things aren't getting better, why their grandparents are dead, and why extreme weather events are now common.

The answers are simple, and will be shoved in their faces. They will reject them, and instead construct an alternative reality where they are the protagonists and two god forces are controlling everything.

They want naruto to be real.

Most people are normal, and have already come to the correct conclusion that there are no solutions to these problems and that there is nothing they can do. That is a healthy acceptance. Turns out some people can't handle the apocalypse and go a bit nuts.

One thing about q that confuses me is whether people like that attempted vehicular homicide lady would have become violent without the q story to latch onto. It seems like she had been having symptoms of something for a while and that she was acting out as part of a delusion. But I don't hear about people who have delusions or schizotypal thinking getting violent very often. Possibly it's because it doesn't make the news when it's not part of a larger phenomenon, but it seems like a fair number of the people getting violent are mentally ill--and the general wisdom I've always heard about schizophrenia and mania and things like that are that it's very rare for people with untreated disorders like that to become violent or dangerous to other people. Do conspiracy theories cause mentally ill people to become violent when they otherwise wouldn't?

I would urge caution in referring to someone like this woman as delusional in the psychiatric sense. Just believing in something really, really stupid and then acting on said beliefs does not make someone delusional necessarily. Way more has to be going on under the hood before it gets anywhere near a diagnosable psychiatric disorder.

A lot of these Qanon attacks are more in line with abortion clinic bombers or religious zealots who carry out terror attacks than someone like, say Herbert Mullin, who killed 13 people to prevent a catastrophic earthquake from plunging California into the ocean.

I mean, never trust a cop, but there's stuff like this in the article:

quote:

Responding police officers reportedly found Fulbright “crying hysterically” and yelling that the driver of the vehicle she attacked “was a pedophile and had kidnapped a girl for human trafficking.” The arresting officer noted that Fulbright seemed “delusional”; her blood alcohol content was recorded as 0.21 percent—more than double the legal limit in Texas.

quote:

Sydney Molina, a former roommate of Fulbright, said that Fulbright “has a history of mental health issues” that have gone untreated. She added that Fulbright’s family was “super huge” into supporting the president and that Fulbright was “feeding off her own family’s crazy Trump love.” At some point in May, Molina claims to have introduced Fulbright to QAnon.

I guess I'm thinking of that schizophrenic guy who burned down the democratic party office in Texas and the guy who went on the run while filming himself arguing with his kids about getting messages from the radio and using his psychic powers for good. I don't know that delusional is the right word, but they're definitely showing more symptoms of illness along with the q stuff radicalizing them.

a fair point. i think the part that makes it tough for me is how drunk she was. like, mental health issues or not, I have done some just absolutely delusional poo poo while drunk. fortunately, my delusions have mostly revolved around "I am a good singer and everyone wants to hear me" or "I can totally make that jump".

if anything, some of the q related violence actually points towards a disturbing rationality. that is, once someone accepts that there is a global network of child murdering pedophiles, doing whatever it takes, up to and including murder against traffickers. Not saying its right, just that there's an understandable logic there.

It's an open secret that the first incarnation of Q was a bunch of basement dwellers playing a 4chan forums game. And the current incarnation of Q is Jim Watkins: a sexpat in the Phillipines, owner of a pig farm and a child porn/spree killer webforum.

None of it really matters for the Q mythology, because it gives meaning to the lives of the dumbest people on earth.

Short answer, no.

Untreated bipolar and schizophrenia do not make a person violent - on their own, anyway. Unfortunately, the state of mental health care and social programs in the world we live in, means many with these diagnosed also experience neglect as kids, substance abuse and a tendency to retreat into comforting delusions, some of which involve fighting evil.

E: However, I agree with Azathoth that we should not let her get off with an insanity defense before she's been evaluated. Tons of rear end in a top hat racists maim and kill others on their beliefs without being delusional. They chose to believe something wrong and, in turn, to harm someone else over it.

He's tried to co-opt it a couple of times yeah, but not join or promote. He only brings it up to try to harvest people from Q, either by taking a "Q is on the right track, but only I have the real stuff" or "Q is a phoney deep state lie" line, depending on the day. Alex is a narcissist, and he absolutely cannot stand playing second fiddle in what he considers his own band. He has never and never will promote Q directly because sending people to Q aligned groups bleeds eyes away from him and Infowars.
