Nah robinhood is not exactly a scam but it has a track record of being a bit of a mickey mouse operation. It's reasonable to be a bit wary.

For real. When I worked retail brokerage all calls would claim that we were costing them money not saving them from making disastrous decisions.

Don't all the discount brokerages do that?

Leperflesh

Robinhood literally prompted someone to commit suicide because of the misleading way they showed profit/loss on a two-legged spread which had one leg closed and one leg still open.

Like that's not "stole all your money" level of scam but it sure isn't "highly competent handling and display of your information" level of professionalism I'd want in my stock broker.

Online gambling (for money) isn’t legal in the states other wise I would be, on limit tables anyway.

What? This isn't true. It's perfectly legal to gamble online here. The laws are about banks dealing with gambling sites so you can't put in money with your debit card or whatever, but it's legal for you to gamble online. Most sites will accept Bitcoin for deposit and withdrawal and you can use the cash app to pay and receive Bitcoin so you don't have to worry about holding it or the price dropping. Some states have even legalized it completely and you don't even have to jump through those hoops.

I've gambled on Bovada recently and it was a bit of a hassle to get money in and out but not nearly as hard as you might think. If you want to gamble there is nothing stopping you.

ya I've played poker on bovada since like 2013, and some other merge poo poo before then, and now i live in a state where it's legal but i still like bovada's anonymous tables gimmick enough to still play on it

i feel like there's some pitr continuation that im not part of ... that poo poo was great

even though it's non u.s., i think ggpoker has a feature to stake mtt players, which sounds way better than fractional shares

also bovada lets you bet on gsl, i know someone asked me about it in the discord awhile ago.

In order from poop to “okay it’s not complete poo poo” in my experience:

Robinhood

Webull/tastytrade/IB

TOS/Fidelity/Schwab

The different UIs are definitely subjective, especially since most are pretty customizable. Especially TOS you can turn that into a cool YOSPOS style hacker theme if you want. Most people prefer the UI for RH and the UI for ToS, but over the years I’ve really come to love Schwab’s but I’ve also pulled away from high-risk super quick trades as I age.

I gotta say it every time it comes up, such a loving travesty. So many crushing poker players came out of that subforum. Millions were won by guys who posted regularly, giving free advice, and who debated and formulated strategy there. Had to be the best place in the world to talk poker. In contrast, the 2+2 forums are nearly impossible to wade through to find decent posts/advice, in the sea of wrongheaded bullshit.

drat, look at this, I just checked and mrtimcaum is now 10th on the all time tournament money list, wow. https://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=78452 . Just ahead of Phil loving Ivey. Pretty sure I told him he should finish up school instead of moving to vegas. Think that thread is nuked now though, how the hell can you even search a deleted forum in archives.

I already have a Fidelity retirement account so I downloaded Active Trader to check it out to see if I might want to use it for trading and it's pretty decent, like a Windows XP to thinkorswim's Windows 8, I guess, or something. Not exactly beautiful but it

The nice thing about Robinhood is just that it's so god drat intuitive and uncluttered. If you want to do something there's generally a pretty clear and simple way to do it without having to construct some Frankenstein's monster trade or worry that you're messing something up when opening or closing.

For years, I’d thought about buying stocks with a little bit of money here and there. My wife and I have vanguard Roth IRAs with vanguard mutual funds. She has a Fidelity 401k and I have a mass mutual 401k all with vanguard mutual funds.

When the market talked earlier this year my wife and i talked about buying up some airline stock, but I had no idea how to do it. A friend showed me RH, it has no fees and as said above, it’s easy as hell to use.

I still only have like $6,000 in it and I’m not a serious trader. I don’t do crazy options trades or spreads. I don’t day trade. I have figured out how to sell a few covered calls and make about $100/ month just doing that. I don’t need a ton of detailed info. I don’t need in depth analysis.

It does what I want for a casual user to quickly and easily buy a few stocks that I have access to on my phone.

I also love the fact that the stodgy old guard can’t stand that millennials are loving up the system with their upstart trading platform.

We are actual very close to entering what some famous quantum physicists have described as the TSLA infinite split loop theory. The loop works this way.

Tesla announces stock split because the stock price has gone to 2000$.
The news drives more demand for the stocks.
The split happens, the stock price is 500$.
The price and the hype attract more investors. The price goes to 2000$.
Tesla announces stock split because the stock price has gone to 2000$. The loop repeats in infinity.
