That's awesome!

In other Joe news, here's a winner from the Facebook group, which is a loving cesspit:

I just had an old guy rip the Baroness figure out of my hands at Target. I was first in line, they had three, he grabbed two right out of the box, as the employee was handing them to me. I confronted him, and he called me a loving human being, and told me to eat poo poo and die. It’s every man for himself, he screamed at me. I’m pretty sure he was playing the, I’m too old for someone to punch me in the face card. This hobby has become real ugly, REAL fast. Why, WHY, do people treat others this way over a $40 piece of plastic?

I worked at a Target overnights right before I started college many, many years ago. We would see the scalpers every morning. I have zero doubt this is how it happened. They are awful, awful people.

Best story from memory is there were two Hot Wheels scalpers, who are the worst of the worst in my experience, one got there first and there was a new wave of stuff out. The one got what he wanted and proceeded to wiped his own poo poo on the rest of the product so his rival wouldn’t buy it. The guy got banned for that stunt but proceeded to send in an army of people in his steed while he waited in the car every day.

They are real winners.

Back when Toys r Us was still a thing, my friend and I would learn the dates that new WWE exclusive figures would be put out, and we would take the day off, drive over to the store, waiting for them to open so we could get the first standalone Bobby Heenan figure or whoever was going to be out that day. There were always a bunch of Hot Wheels collectors in the parking lot, and in the entire time I have been collecting, the only people I've ever seen argue / nearly get into physical confrontations over toys have been Hot Wheels collectors. Hot Wheels collectors are next level insane.

Ive seen Hot Wheels dealers at flea markets, people with their entire booths covered in them and nothing else. I imagine they’re the same ones fighting in the Target aisles for the good cars, so they can try and resell them at 200% markup. Pickup trucks and wraparound sunglasses.

Women are wonderful animals, they should be making music and writing novels about having a complex relationship with your mother.
They're just little cars. If you're gonna fight over toys, it should be over cooler toys.

My dad just bought a few 60’s era Matchbox cars from the flea market, and they’re pretty cute with their little boxes.

And when you stare long into the abyss, you become aggressively, terminally chill

I worked a TRU for years while going to college the first time and it's pretty funny to me that hotwheels collectors being obnoxious is A Thing outside the realm of my own experience. They were always the first in the store as soon as it opened, and they'd always jostle each other as they powerwalked to the isle cause we had barred them from running. And they were there every day, without fail.

A 200% markup on Hot Wheels is what, two dollars?

Walking out of a Walmart this past week I saw a Back to the Future and Ghostbusters Hot Wheels display. I haven't bought a Hot Wheel in like 25 years or something, but I thought those would be fun to throw on the shelf. They were like 7 or 8 bucks each! Not a chance in hell.

I thought I didn't qualify. I was considered, what was it... volatile, self-centered, and I don't play well with others.
I'm still not sure whether I should get the HasLab Sentinel. It's now on it's final 32 hours or so.. 16,000+ backers... I'm worried I'll suffer some MAJOR buyers remorse and end up selling the thing whenever I get it in a year. Think it'll hold MSRP value? I don't care too much about profit but in the very least I don't want to see this thing sell for MSRP except I have to eat the cost of taxes + shipping because every other shmuck is selling it on ebay too.

It's Wal-Mart exclusive for a bit ( Which means that yeah, we're suffering with trying to find them ), but it will be going into Target in 2021.

For the sentinel, just decide if a $500 dust catcher is gonna be cool with you, or will be a source of frustration and annoyance. If you are cool with it, I'd grab it. If it's gonna be irritating to you, I wouldn't.

FOMO is a bitch sometimes, but people snapping these up thinking they are gonna flip em easily and make majillions tend to ignore the facts that we are in record unemployment, everyone is loving broke, and we are still in the middle of a pandemic.

I’d say get it if you can swing it now as you get charged when the project ends in a day, then come 2021 and beyond if you DO need to sell it, you should easily be able to recoup your money, in my opinion. Hell the two sentinel prime figures will likely go for a ton later on too.

MOTU Origins should be available everywhere to any store that wants to carry them in 2021. Hopefully that means Amazon and BBTS.

It does, sort of. During the PowerCon panel the Mattel guy said this would be open to ANY retailer that was interested in carrying the line. From the Walmarts of the world all the way down to mom and pop shops. No reason to think these wont hit all the typical online toy stores.

Anyone have any experience repairing/customizing vintage Kenner Star Wars figures? An account I follow made some cool custom Rebel Pilots out of beater figure parts and I’d like to replicate them. I know the ROTJ heads just pop off a peg and the ANH/ESB figures have a neck peg you can pry out by boiling the figure for a few minutes, but I can’t find any videos on swapping limbs. Any ideas?

I ended up cancelling 4 of my 5 cause I was getting cold feet and dropping $2000 on toys didn't seem like a good idea. Especially now that it seems like everyone is getting one.

Yup, but I realized I'm not cut out to be a scalper and dropping 2 grand in the hopes of making a profit a year or more later just doesn't make sense right now. Even though this is the first time I could do it no problem.

My case for Gi Joe classified wave one finally came in, the QC gods smiled on me this day as my Snake Eyes has both a knife that fits in his sheath perfectly and a tight torso.

We've not heard a single word out here about the Baroness wave from hasbro. Typically any American retailer exclusives get offered up to mass retail in Asia and are generally easy to get, but GI joe isn't available at retail here so this wave is currently sitting in limbo.

You can boil and pop them just like the head joints, they just take longer to boil. I'm guessing you are familiar with Toy Polloi's videos (if not you might dig them), 3 minutes into this he swaps out arms and legs on some kenner Han's:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LsrVl4hpsw

This doesn't work on a lot of potf2 figures, the pegs on the limbs are much wider, many of them you will actually have to crack open the torso to get the limbs out.

Also not sure what heads/torsos you were planning to use, but the kenner figures that have the neck posts attached to the torso also have totally different peg shapes/sizes according to country of origin (not just ROTJ, some ESB figures have them too). If it's got a Hong COO stamp the peg will be much wider and non Hong Kong heads won't fit without some doctoring.

Thanks for that, I had seen the other Toy Polloi video about the heads but not this one! I’m almost certain all the beaters I’ve got coming are Honk Kongs. Right now I plan on taking the head and arms from an Ackbar and putting them onto a B-Wing Pilot body, and sticking Greedo and Snaggletooth heads onto Pilot Luke bodies and then repainting each where necessary. I’ve been wanting to do custom Kenner stuff for a while and those seem like simple jobs just to try my hand at it.
