Wow I never realized how much of an rear end in a top hat Earl Thomas was. I imagine he'd only go to a place where a known former teammate can put up with him in synergy. That would be *checks notes* poo poo, the 49ers.

At first I thought there would be a lot of leaks about ET coming this week, but it seems like due to the offset language in his contract it would be beneficial for Baltimore for him to sign for as much as possible somewhere else.

Bad, very bad!
All of this ET stuff reminded me that Eric Berry is still out there claiming to want to play. I think he might be overestimating his value though, apparently the Colts sniffed around earlier this year but couldn't make a deal happen.

I guess I also have no clue if it's more dangerous for Berry to play than other people as a cancer survivor.

It's a decent statement, especially since it avoids using language that hides the police's culpability, but doesn't actually call for anything beyond "meaningful dialog."

That is a very fair point. It's something, I guess. And they explicitly used the term "police brutality."

Contracts are such a loving insane mystery hell hole. Something that I still have no idea about, is would voiding the guarantees for this season affect future dead money? The Ravens can recoup 10 million from the contract for 2020... but what about 2021 and 2022? Does that matter? Does anything matter?

Is Earl Thomas bad now? He's apparently not good for locker room chemistry anymore but I was still under the impression he's a good player. Is that really "playing" Jerry to bring in a good player?

edit: well then.

Yes he is still really good, not game breaking like in Seattle but very solid in coverage and probably would get even better if he stayed for a second year in the same defensive scheme, but alas

However it's worth noting that the Ravens defense was pretty trash against the pass even with Thomas until they gave Chuck Clark the green dot and acquired Marcus Peters

AndrewP

He's still good. Some bad optics during the playoffs last year when he talked poo poo and proceeded to get trucked by Henry. Also reports were that he looked better physically this camp than he did last year.

Someone should give ET a $10m contract imo

Yeah, but it should be a 2 year $20m with a base vet minimum this year, and if he hits incentives, a giant roster bonus for next year becomes guaranteed, so the Ravens get no offset money.

The top end of the safety market will be hit when Adams and probably Marcus Williams and later on Derwin James get new deals.

Budda is good but he's not in their class and he's not a free agent.
