Back in mid Feb they hit an all time high of $40 per share before plummeting to just $8 a share in mid March alongside the rest of the corona-hit market. They have since then increased to $91 a share, peaking a few days ago at $93.25 per share. If you'd bought in March you would have seen an 1100% ROI. This I believe is because TenCent, owners/part owners of Fortnite, League of Legends, PUBG, WeChat and basically most of the world, dumped $10 billion into it in May (or 20x Afterpay's projected revenue for this financial year, with expectations to produce losses for the next two years yet).

The other poo poo thing with Afterpay is that they take a ~5% cut from the sale. So the retailer only gets 95% of the money, which is a pretty raw deal if your margins are already pretty tight. It isn't just the customer who can get hosed if they buy more than they can afford, they also prey on the retailer's anxiety about getting money into the business.

Maybe its not quite so bad because the business doesn't have to pay credit card fees? That's something like 3.4% iirc

My employer has never dissuaded me from talking about zip so I would assume that means the fees are comparable. Zip used to have phone and live chat support and and email address but has now made it really difficult to contact them, for what it's worth.
