It's pretty standard now for industries that display a work ID to only show the first name of the person on the front of the card to prevent angry members of the public tracking them down. The threat of someone you meet at work turning up at your home to continue thier bullshit is fairly terrifying but it does happen. This seems to me like a logical extension of that. I wouldn't put it past the kind of people who support someone who shot up two mosques to target the people publicly leading him away in a form of hosed up pretty revenge.

So a local airline would not let one of our guys get on board because they weren't sure if Australia required a valid PCR test (Aus does not but airlines are belt and braces at the moment). So hence he missed the connecting flight into Australia - via multiple ways (it is business class anyway but no issues paying first class) according to the travel company the next available to get into Aus is the 25th of October. It'd be nice if Aus went to a quarantine with day one, day eight PCR tests with release after day eight results. We have not had one person out of thousands test positive on a day 16 test if they were negative on day one and day eight. Pro-tip for travelers, it costs a bit for the PCR tests (and is its own ball ache, especially if an inconclusive test like what happened above) but the likes of Air France, etc have no qualms not letting people onto flights just in case the receiving country (or some transit location - even if you stay on the plane) requires PCR.

Actual content: I have it on good authority that Qantas have made arrangements with a rather unscrupulous contractor to cover any ground handling staff that decide to go on strike at Sydney airport. Basically just straight-up paying for scabs. The TWU delegate at said contractor is understandably furious and currently trying to find a way that they can either strike in solidarity or at least not become scabs.

There's no sign-up involved, the situation is that the job they are currently paid to do at Sydney airport will be specifically scaled and directed to displace striking Qantas workers to undermine them. As they are not Qantas employees they aren't technically party to the current dispute so striking could lose them their jobs. They're being forced into working as scabs.
