Queen's "no synths!" poo poo was a direct reaction to specifically ELP, whom everyone outside of a small fanbase hated. I love ELP but I only know about them because my dad was a prog rock nerd and they will be forgotten as quickly as Jethro Tull has been.

I wasn't trying to talk about what was or wasn't doable, just saying that synths were around in the early seventies.

i had totally forgotten that they were super anti-synth. but whatever, Queen loving rules harder than any band ever so it's all good and apparently they changed their minds later. i kind of get their attitude on it because a lot of musicians at the time were seriously worried that synths would kill the careers of session musicians, and in the long run they turned out to be right tbh

The irony that they then went on to write a song with one of the best synth baselines and simultaneously inspire the career of Lady Gaga with a single song can not be overlooked on this either

I like the live performances because Freddie Mercury was such a loving maniac.

He transforms the songs and you need to watch him to fully appreciate the music.

I am not a musician, I am tone deaf and cannot play a lick, but I wholeheartedly believe that a lot of music is useless without feeling it live. You can't divorce the music from the energy it makes and it is born from.

I saw Night Ranger and Loverboy live and they were both an absolute blast because they clearly loved what they were doing and wanted to be there.
