What's also great about that Justified scene is that Raylan's response to Nix's game isn't a devious trick but he's recovering from a gunshot wound so can't do his usual quick draw - so he improvises

Someone posted somewhere that in TDK when Bruce crashes the party with 4 models in tow that they're wearing cyan, magenta, yellow and black dresses, which is supposedly a nod to CMYK printing methods used for comics. Not sure I buy it but it's a neat observation. Here's the image https://dejareviewer.files.wordpress.com/2017/09/bruce-wayne-dates-floozies-to-give-the-impression-of-being-a-worthless-playboy.jpg

Maybe? If it was a reference to CMYK you'd think they'd be in that order in the image.

That would ruin the framing. You can let a costume designer have their fun but don't gently caress around with Chris Nolan's framing.

This reminds me that in Color Out of Space they use magenta light to denote the otherworldly. Magenta is an odd color as on the light spectrum it shouldn't exist but our brain doesn't like having a gap between purple & red on the visible light wavelength spectrum, so it defaults to what we call magenta. Long story short, magenta only exists in our minds.

Not a knock on the show, but one thing that bothers me about Justified is how easy they make it seem to get from Lexington to Harlan County. I know lots of shows and movies do this, maybe it just bothers me more when I know the area. For example in Stripes, at the beginning when they cross the Ohio River to get from the Louisville airport to downtown. Maybe they thought they were in Cincinnati. Or Ferris Buehler, knowing the distance between everything they did and Chicago traffic, how many hours were in that day?

On the opposite side of that, in Baby Driver the opening chase scene did a drat good job with consistency regarding how they got around Atlanta. There's a fairly big jump in location near the end but for the most part it's doable. now...mid day traffic being what it was in the movie is another story... e: ah here you go, a side by side mapped comparison: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ry9X2FPfHM Joey Freshwater has a new favorite as of 20:17 on Sep 1, 2020 |

If ever there's a car chase or just someone casually committing they'll skip from Chinatown to the Palace of Fine Arts then Haight Ashbury and finally Fisherman's wharf and apparently thre entire city iit's covered in cable cars. Surprisingly one of the least egregious offenders is The Rock (1996) as that chase is all pretty much in the same part of town. It also drives me mad that no matter where someone is driving there's a parking space available right out front.

How long did he have to wait for Cameron? Then add up the other 50 million things they all did, plus that school gets out probably around 2:30-3pm. I love the movie more than a lot of others but drat if I think about the timing even a little bit, none of it makes sense.

Assuming his parents work from 9am to 5pm with an hour commute that gives him 9 hours to. Get ready and goof around a bit Bug Cameron to come over Set up his decoy devices and hack the schools computer Discuss with Cameron the plan and make phony phone calls to get Simone out Get the car Get Simone Drive to Chicago Park car and get lunch Visit a museum Go to the top of the Sears Tower Attend a baseball game Visit the stock exchange Be ther grand marshal in a parade Retrieve Car Drive to Shermer Have a hot tub Watch Cameron have a personal breakthrough about his relationship with his father. Run home Am I missing anything? That comes out to an average half an hour per scene. James Woods has a new favorite as of 05:17 on Sep 8, 2020 |

Though The Rock might be ok in terms of geography, it's absurd that two people that should have NO good driving skills (a guy in solitary confinement for 20+ years and a nerdy, bookish FBI agent who probably drives a Ford Taurus) can drive a Hummer and...Ferrari? Lamborgini? with enough skill to outrun everyone else and not just immediately crash. And there's no way Mason would know how to answer a car phone...he's probably never seen a touchtone phone in his life. IO guess maybe...MAYBE just being a smart enough guy he understood "green = go" so it also might mean turn the phone on? But I feel like he would just pick up the handpiece and get confused as to why that didn't "answer" the call.

We doing bond poo poo now? I really like in Dr no when bond realised something was amiss and took off his shoes, the whole scene is silent and you really need to focus of what bong is actually doing and there isn't some obvious change in style or editing really gives creedence to the portrayal of bond and his competency. Like, it's not hugely subtle, but that the movies have a trajectory of "bond takes off shoes to be more silent in a flat" to "bond parasails a glacial tsunami" tell mes something got lost
