Portsmouth VA police have now also charged the vice mayor with a misdemeanor who talked about firing the police chief for charging a State senator with a felony as well as a bunch of local black community leaders. This is all for the vandalism of a statue where none of the people were present.

People keep saying that PPD charged the vice mayor, but the warrant/summons were obtained by a city citizen through the Magistrate's office. PPD is then required to serve the paperwork.

Also in VA magistrates are almost always retired cops and they moved on it enthusiastically, Twitter has been posting the social media of supervisors in Portsmouth PD who think its awesome.

A few months ago TPD killed a mentally unwell black transman in town - Tony McDade. This was after they shot and killed Mychael Johnson and Wilbon Woodard in the two months before. This killing is one of the major driving forces between protests here in Tallahassee because police have refused to release dashcam or bodycam footage. The grand jury is meeting this week. It looks like TPD may not even have the footage anymore if it ever had it at all.

I've been in a private "Law Enforcement" group on Facebook for a while now; it's obviously heavily populated by American cops. It's all verified too, so they are all likely cops, or at least have been at some point. It really has opened my eyes. Before this, I judged American police under the naive assumption that they'd adhere to the stringent standards of professionalism and impartiality that I personally (and many other British cops do) display. Oh boy, was I wrong. One of the most popular posts in recent times was a giant thread espousing how the guy who shot people in Kenosha was right to do everything he did, etc. They were actually celebrating the fact that people had been shot and killed. Incredible. I made an effort post about how everybody concerned was a loving idiot and predictably got dogpiled by gun slinging morons. And to put the icing on the cake, this "meme" was posted just minutes ago and prompted me to make this post.  loving disgusting. Tribalism will be the downfall of society.
