I'm an EDC dork. We got in those bracelets at work, so we got to play with them a bunch. It is a lovely solution to a simple problem. It snags, is unwieldy, and you aren't able to get a decent grip to get decent torque/pressure on your work piece. It's also like twice the price of a Leatherman Wave, which is a fantastic, well rounded tool.

I know no American that believes we are classless and no outlet (e.g. media) that would claim or promotes otherwise. Rather there are a lot of people that believe ANYONE can bootstrap themselves even if they don’t have boots to start with. Perhaps that is what you are thinking of? Because that is literally the Republican party platform.

Also we don’t believe in class as a birthright but that’s because everyone is nouveau riche compared to Old World money so you gotta make yourself feel good somehow I guess.

The US is still building its class system really. They have the underclass and serfs down. They're just building their aristocracy. The aristocracy essentially starts out with inherited wealth and power and continues on that line, inherited wealth like Trump's, inherited power like George W Bush etc.

We also don't have royals, so the most visible wealthy people are actors, musicians and athletes, who come from a huge variety of backgrounds. Dr. Dre is a billionaire and he used to sit on a corner selling drugs in Compton.

There are more than enough rich family lines from 17th-early 20th century industries floating around, keeping their noses out of public view, to qualify as a US aristocracy. Only fame-chasers like Musk/Trump, political players like the Bush/Kennedys, or "overnight" successes like Zuckerberg/Bezos/Gates actually pop into public view, but plenty of scions abound if you take time to look.

Yeah, but they aren't relentlessly stalked by tabloids the way European aristocracy is. Occasionally you'll have a Paris Hilton but hardly anyone knows who the Waltons are despite being one of the richest families in America.

Late to the leatherman chat but I got one of those bracelets when i worked on a fishing boat and it never snagged on anything, i still wear it most days now. Super handy, while no replacement for real tools. I probably use it maybe once a week to unscrew or open something once a week when im away from my tools. I also really like stew and guns, but also socialism. In conclusion, a land of contrasts.

Stew is great and I will not let chuds attempt to make it their thing. I also have a fidget toy bracelet that I wear pretty often.

I cant enjoy stew because of loving capitalism. Good stew is just getting harder to come by what with not having enough time to make a decent broth because of long exhausting work hours. Its just more economical to buy easy meals and trash food. It pretty much is only found on holiday get togethers for me.

It's weirdly difficult to buy cheap stew meat. Everything that isn't a prime cut of meat is automatically turned into heavily processed food so the stew meat in stores is relatively expensive as a novelty for the people that grew up buying the cheapest thing they could find and slowcooking it until it was edible.

Poster not the idiot. https://twitter.com/CALFIREBDU/status/1302806037464973315 I know that people who talk about Instapots are only a little less annoying than people who talk about Diva Cups, but honest to Pete, we've eaten so many more stewed things since we got one. You can do a weeknight curry, or Korean braised ribs, or even stew, easily. You brown the meat in the pot, then switch to pressure cooking; you're usually done in 20-30 minutes, most of which is cool down. It is so worth the money. Also, it's a pain in the butt and requires freezer space, but if you buy a small amount of chuck, just cut it up and you have stew beef.

As far away from that as you can be and still be in Bari (it comes up a bit since Airforce people will be like, "My dad/uncle/etc was stationed in Bari!"). I'll see if I can casually get more info but like gently caress I'm gonna call a drinking buddy who goes on and on about Italy and be like, "tell me more about Italy". It sets a bad precedent.

Hollandia posted:At a risk of the classic goon food derail... post the instantpot recipes. The cool thing about instapots is that they have three things: a pressure regulator, to control and maintain pressure inside the cooker; a vent pipe, which allows excess pressure to be released; and a sealing ring, which creates a pressure-tight seal between the lid and the body. So, you have your special sauce. That's totally open, red, white, plenty of options! You can find plenty of sources online. Timing is important, so take your trusted Casio F-91W and make sure you know when things are ready to pop. Add some other things from your kitchen to the pot. It doesn't really matter what. Like, you could literally add rusty old nails. The Instantpot is a solid brand and will absolutely make anything taste good. After that just pressurize it, put it where you want it and let your watch do the magic. Best cooking implement ever. Consider for the moment, this recipe: WHAT IS IN THIS BUTTER CHICKEN RECIPE? Canned Tomatoes 5-6 cloves Garlic Minced Fresh Ginger Turmeric Cayenne Pepper Smoked Paprika Kosher Salt Garam Masala Ground Cumin Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs, (or use skinless chicken breast, bone-in, or whatever works for you. If frozen, add 1-2 minutes to total time) Butter cut into cubes, (use coconut oil if dairy-free) Heavy Cream, (use full-fat coconut milk if dairy-free) Garam Masala spice mix chopped cilantro Throw it all in there and it basically takes care of itself. Delicious dish. I recommend using more water than is in this recipe but ymmv.

My go-tos are anything by Urvashi Pitre (I own her cookbook) https://twosleevers.com/cookingstyle/instant-pot/ I haven't checked all the links in this but I'm hopeful https://pipingpotcurry.com/instant-pot-indian-vegetarian-recipes/ This lady for Korean https://mykoreankitchen.com/instant-pot-short-ribs/ and for plain ol' stew, I think we just take any recipe and tart it up to taste. There's probably one in the cookbook that comes with it; I forget.
