As far as I'm aware the only vendors that restock are the ones at Ranger HQ and only when you level up enough for them to get higher pevel stock.

Are you using energy cell qeapons on most of your squad? Other than the early game where I was hurting for money I was never short on ammo.

The endgame slides give the impression that if you stick around in Colorado after supporting the Patriarch, you become indispensable to him and will determine the line of succession when he kicks the bucket, so the problem really does solve itself so long as you don't go nuts and unify a bunch of violent gangs in order to take down the guy who intends to support Arizona as an honest broker. . It's definitely an unusually one-sided take on the standard faction choice in RPGs, and I can't figure out if it's a deliberate subversion or not.

I've seen everyone discussing this ending choice and the part I'm missing is how Angela will just abandon the violent gang part wholesale if you've killed off Cordite. Same when it comes to sparing the Patriarchs children, she'll just accept it. I mean, it's still signposted pretty hard that you're making the wrong decision by her deathsquading your former companions but it's not really that bad either.

In my ending the refugees and marshals banded together with the rangers and that was that. Gangs were all comically pacified, gippers on a heavy leash and the 100 families reluctantly but peacefully accepted the transition of power. It forces the rangers to move to Colorado but on the other hand I think the game pretty firmly establishes that Arizona is on its last legs.

The patriarch is personally responsible for so many of the pointless deaths in the game that I kind of struggle with seeing him as good by comparison. I don't think it's one-sided. You get to gamble on whether radical or incremental change is what the institutions of Colorado worth preserving need to survive.

I've managed to get 2 skill books for some skills and I'm pretty sure I saw the entire map. That said, I can't remember which skills specifically (plus there's skill boosting gear).

And if you have items that increase skills you don't even need to do that. You can get the mechanics book, a hat and utility item to boost it all in Colorado Springs, so if you beeline to rank 7 you're done with it.

On PS4 it actually lets me use each book twice (or rather, the "are you sure you want to read this?" prompt comes up twice and if I confirm both times I gain 2 points), I'm not sure if the same thing happens on other platforms.

Though to be honest by the end of the game I was struggling to find things to spend my skill points on other than just leveling Brawling for combat speed or First Aid for unnecessary better healing on everyone or whatever, you get more than enough to completely ignore skill books and be fine. Use them whenever you come across a check you can't pass

speaking of skill books my favourite bug happened when i used one on my hard rear end character who was at 3+2 points of it by wearing the helmet and accessory that give a point. well after using the skill book she was suddenly at 9 points of hard rear end, and taking the equipment off left her at 7! no idea what happened there but i'm not gonna complain about 3 skill points materialising out of nowhere.

i used nerd stuff to hack her robots, lockpicked the door to the generator to disable the turrent guns. you need 10 in all of those skills though.

also 10 in hardass bypasses the fight completely

that area of the game was pretty rough in that having the enemy get first strike on you was almost always a game over or you had like 1 guy left when it was your turn

I swear somewhere it said it had been about five years and the Rangers were getting desperate as their numbers/supplies dwindled. Hence why they’re willing to help the Patriarch at all. It’s definitely not the same year, Angela had time to set out with a whole expedition and get them all killed and be gone for a while. :v:

You know, I think the game may possibly allow for you to keep the "good" companions in regards to the spoiler conflict: namely, managing to keep both Lucia and Kwon on your side if you dig around for dirt on the Patriarch enough. I reckon his wives might be the determining factor. Dunno if you can keep Greatski with you tho, and basically have the only mutineers be these no-name ranger recruits.

The mutineers are interesting too: the Cotters and Gett will go against you if you fight Angela Deth, but if the Arapahos are your chosen mechanics, I reckon they'll stick with you. Considering that of all the factions, I managed to completely max out the Refugees, I could probably take the hit from arresting Mama Cotter and still remain in Loved status, and therefore use that to calm the rioters in end game.

This happened to me a bunch until I realized it was because the robots were out of range of the hack ability. I think the range is pretty short, like 6m.

Theres basically no info online about this ending I can find, so hope you can shed further light on this. I know the Gippers being alive do supply Colorado Springs if you have Reagan hostage and the Machine Commune give oil to everyone meaning there's not really enough for Springs but does the Fishlips ending actually have them supply the city with oil or does it just say they work out how to make it? I'm literally at this choice right now.

I think it works as contrast with the Patriarchs society. Its a grim reminder of what is out there is so much worse than whatever crimes he has comitted

Ironically enough it was Liberty who convinced me to side with the Patriarch with her speech about how the patriarch legit wants to help out the rangers because he wants to build alliances with like minded states and rebuild America. All game long you expect some kind of catch to the deal but nope he earnestly wants to help out the rangers (after they help him first ofc)
