I would buy that this is AT&T's doing, an outside company coming in and cutting a ton of stuff without really knowing it's value when they take over is a pretty standard (and sucky) practice.
They have spent a good portion of this year going into all of the divisions they bought and looking at cost cutting measures because AT&T wants to reduce its costs from the merger. It's pretty standard. I can absolutely look at something like this where it's a show that has been ongoing since the first term of GWB and has only put out 7 seasons in that time. It was always a weird arrangement and it worked for awhile but AS is not like it used to be and now there are new bosses.

It's also weird that this show that has been in production since I was a junior in HS is only now ending.

What show has been in production for 18 years with a two-year production cycle and been consistently good? Venture Bros is extremely unusual for television. It’s more like an art project or a hobby than a tv show.

Not by a long shot. We could divine that Rusty and Malcom reached *some* measure of reconciliation when Future Rusty called him by his first name in "The Most Dangerous Game."

It's pretty clear S8 was going to be a season wrapping up the Saga of Rusty Venture and The Monarch and the starting of one between Hank and Dean.

Maybe they'll finally loving tell us who Scare Bear was.

I remember seeing Vbros advertisements on the sides of buses in Downtown LA back in 2003 when I was in high school.

I've gone to about half a baker's dozen of VBros San Diego Comic-Con panels over the last couple decades, and they were always hilarious, always "line up a panel or three early or else you'll be turned away" events. Even in the off-years when The Guys showed up and said "Next year!" and riffed on the show for an hour and answered some questions from the incredibly devoted/geeky audience, it was always worth the wait.

The best thing I'll remember from the series was seeing so, so many fans dressed up as characters in the SDCC line, and that it became a normal thing for all the cosplayers to all get together for a massive group shot at the end of the panel.

I loathe that instead securing a legacy project for the entire network by funding one final season, some new CEO comes in and cuts the throat of creativity that defined the network to just avoid making a short term money-losing gamble.

[AS] is dead. It's late night TBS with white text on black background skits in between reruns of generic cheap poo poo.

You're fucking subhuman
I remember hearing about Venture Bros and picking up the DVDs of the first season way way back to check it out. I super got into it, bought a few more seasons, and then wound up drifting away for a while during the lengthy time between seasons. My cousin visited from India and found the DVDs and loved it. He also caught up on the more recent episodes which got me back in. Later, when he went back home he told me that apparently Venture Bros aired in India but was heavily censored and got pulled shortly afterward, but he knows how to find the rest of the show.

It's crazy that a show that started shortly before I graduated high school went on for so long and got better as it went on, and how different things are for me now compared to when I first started watching it. I really do hope they get a chance to make a final ending after all this time.

That announcement at least gives me a tiny shred of hope, but given how much of a bunch of tremendous assholes to Metalocalpyse fans in the past few years with the fax machine that fed letters requesting to revive the show went straight into a garbage can while they smirked at the camera, I don't really know how much I can expect. It would be easier to accept their words if it wasn't how condescending they've been in the past

Tony is in a coma for a few episodes. This was in the middle of a contract dispute between HBO and Gandolfini so episodes were written in such a way that Tony could be written off the show entirely if necessary. While in the coma, Buscemi (who played his cousin in the show that he killed) is trying to escort Tony into the light.

That AS tweet sure as hell is ambiguous. But fwiw, I want to say the Venture Brothers book ends with them writing that even if the show gets canceled they would still make stuff in the universe because they love it so much.

It still doesn't really justify the cruelty to the fans of the show unless I dunno, Small murdered someone

He did the Japanese OVA thing where he took the budget they gave him for an entire season and used it to make a single 90 minute long musical episode. This is a cool thing for fans, but impossible to split up for syndication purposes, so Adult Swim told him to go kick rocks for wasting their money.

Yeah that. From my understanding it's only aired on TV twice because it has no room for commercial breaks either.

I agree AS has been cruel to the fans, but they also got that way with Frisky Dingo, Sealab and ATHF fans. That's just been part of their particular brand from the start.
