Sorry to interrupt Hyrule Warriors chat, but has anyone here replaced the fan in their Switch? Is it hard? Mine is very loud and causes my system to vibrate which I’m sure is bad.

I don’t want to send it away for repair because then I would miss several days of Animal Crossing and I would not be ok with that.

I replaced mine a couple months back, it was a little harrowing because I have stupid hands but it worked out in the end. I used the iFixit guide and watched a couple videos before I did it. I ran into a couple problems, the first being one of the tri-wing screws for the back stripped out on me and I had to drill it out. This didn't happen when I replaced the fan but like, last year when I put a cool new back on my Switch. Thankfully the new back came with an entire new set of screws so I had some replacements. The second was a screw holding down the headphone/game card board stripped as well so I didn't take it off. It's not too bad because you can jam it on to its post with a bit of force, but I was afraid I'd break something the whole time. The third is I had to pull off the little piece of foam for the press connector for the MicroSD card because I couldn't get it to seat in right. I pulled it off, pressed the connector in and then stuck the foam back on.

It worked very well and I get paranoid the fan's not running because it's so quiet now a days.

You'll definitely need the Y screwdriver and a tiny Phillips screwdriver and I'd definitely recommend a nylon spudger to help open the connectors. Also you'll want to replace your thermal paste for the heat pipe.

Apparently nintendo ran some promotion for some physical Xenoblade Chronicles merch you could redeem with platinum points. The Monado trinket sold out immediately so I spent 300 coins on 3 pages of stickers but apparently Nintendo wants $5 shipping for them.

If anyone wants to pay the shipping, the code is below.

Showed this to my fiancé who is a massive train nerd, and he’s excited.

He’ll watch videos of Japanese trains for hours on YouTube, and when we were there last he bought tons of model trains and an electric train set, and also a bunch of merch from various local train networks (all of which have their own mascot so it included a lot of plush toys)

iirc densha de go is basically Outrun except you play as the kansai airport express line. you get docked time if you gently caress up, and if you gently caress up grievously your time just goes to 0

Sleep, rest, do your best.
After seeing the hyrule warriors reveal I figured I should probably beat BotW. I'd done the four beasts, 100 korok seeds, around fifty shrines, and had the master sword so why not.

The final boss's difficulty came from me essentially having no control over the horse during that section, but it still wasn't hard. Good game, but I wish you could reliably get star fragments. I wanted to wear a half decent OG Zelda tunic I got from my Amiibo.

I should get back to Trials of Mana next, I'm about halfway through and that game is fun as heck.

I always thought it was a missed opportunity they didn't have more BOTW stuff in Hyrule Warriors

I am now realizing what I wanted all along was a Hyrule Warriors of only BOTW stuff. I'm really excited for this. I'm not huge on Musuo games but HW itself I loved.

ThatWhiteGuy posted:

Maybe it’s just me, but Hyrule Warriors sounds like it has too much content. There are so many posts in this thread about goons dumping hundreds of hours into the game and still not seeing everything.

It’s great that the game has replay value but it’s very rare that I would put even 100 hours into a game, I barely even broke 100 for BotW and that’s one of the best games I’ve ever played. I think I might be in the minority though, I tend to prefer shorter games in general.

It's a weird case because the original game had this mode called adventure mode. It had 1 map and that was the whole mode. It was like 80 levels and was considered the meat of the game after you finished story mode and some of the other stuff.

Then they added a bunch of DLC ones one by one. Each one was meant to be a sizeable update that added a lot to the game.

Then they made a 3DS version, where they had all those maps and slowly added more as more DLC

Then they ported it to Switch. By this time there were NINE adventure maps.

So at some point you're actually seeing years of DLC bundled into the base game and yeah it's completely reasonable to play a bit of it and be like ok I'm done. I liked HW a lot but whenever someone mentions adventure mode who loves the game it's always "There's so much of it" which, to me, is terrible. You can ignore most of it and still have a full game there to play

THE AWESOME GHOST
Oct 21, 2005

I also think there is no way a brand new game specifically built on BOTW has that many, but I'm sure they'll work the BOTW map into it somehow.

Man, this tengu bird beak game mechanic in Mario Odyssey is so fun

I've always viewed the Musou series as one evolution of the old arcade beat 'em ups(/beltscrollers). Going 3D meant abandoning the corridors used by 2D games, and having more freedom of motion meant filler enemies would either have to be less effective or they'd have to ironically be more potentially dangerous to fight (this latter design is felt in games like God Hand - you can still tell who the mooks are but you can't treat them too lightly either). Omega Force opted for the former approach but on a greater scale - especially on higher difficulties, they still serve a function of occasionally getting a jab in here or there, especially if you're careless, but they're only really as threatening in numbers as their capacity to interrupt while bigger targets are in play. Since the enemy count is greater, there's a bigger part of the character toolkit devoted to kinds of crowd control. And since the maps are less constrained arenas, they set up a bunch of hotspots per map to more or less draw you into (semi-)scripted encounters so you don't (usually) bypass the whole map just to gank the boss.

Instead you try to escort a bloodthirsty Nobunaga Oda who refuses to move if there's a single living wimp nearby to an exit on the map that's just past an enemy gate that can't be sealed so it keeps spawning more soldiers.
(Boy, I wish the older Warriors games were on Switch :v:)

Agreed.

Part of the reason I'm so excited for the collection is that the 3D Marios are one of those series where newer entries don't obsolete newer ones. Each game has unique ideas in it so they can all sit on a more equal footing. They aren't direct evolutions of each other in that way.

It’s going to happen at some point, Nintendo has a history of doing this with the game boy and DS/3DS.

BOTW2 in 4K would be the perfect launch game for it. Maybe an Odysey sequel or Prime 4. If we really wanna dream F-Zero rammers.
