The only one I've heard of of those three is ANgela Nagle. And that's only because she was on Chapo and people said it proved they were facsist.

Weirdest thing about the 1619 Project is that a while back the most substantive and researched critique of it came through Marxist analysis on the World Socialist Web Site and Ted Cruz like a loving moron just linked it on Twitter. The writer cites Engels just a few paragraphs in for god's sake!

Gio posted:what exactly are peoples objections to the 1619 project The 1619 Project is basically steeped in this liberal conception of racism that it's just something that's in your blood and therefore can't ever really be rectified or addressed. It has a lot of parallels with the sort of Afro-Pessimism that Ta-Nehisi Coates wrote about (and was criticized by Cornel West over). To be entirely honest, the WSWS criticism of the 1619 Project does have some problems, mostly related to WSWS being rape-apologists in general and specifically that they tend to take the 1619 Project a little too literally when they say that slavery is in the "DNA" of the nation and then lambast that as being a physical impossibility. What really turned (at least some) people against the 1619 Project was Nicole Hannah Jones's online escapades: * when a statue of Ulysses S Grant was pulled down, people started justifying it on the basis that, despite Grant's involvement in the Civil War and the black emancipation that it produced, Grant was also an active participant in the Indian Wars. When someone pointed out that the genocide of Native Americans was an "original sin" of America that predated even black slavery, Jones waded in to helpfully point out that even Native Americans owned black slaves, as though to assert that black people still had it worse regardless. * Jones then on another occasion asserted that Asian-Americans never experienced racism as bad as black people did, ignoring things like the Chinese Exclusion Act or FDR's detention of Japanese-Americans.
