KillHour posted:My Focus is like that so Ford strikes again. The process is really stupid and I hate it -flip up seats -start tilting backrest forward so you can get headrests out because they get caught on ceiling otherwise -stash headrests -maybe tilt front seats forward a little so you can actually fold backrests forward or squish the hell out of the seats so they'll clear There was like no thought given to it

If you listen closely you can hear millions of internet car guys sigh in relief as the weird niche vehicle they've been clamoring for for two decades straight and have often posted about buying on release has A Compromise they can point at when asked why they ended up in a RAV4.

My Scion's rear seats fold flat with no interference unless the front seats are all the way back for some reason. It's nice not to have to gently caress around just to fold down the seats.

I can fold the rear seat in the Golf provided the front seat isn't too far back. If it's really far back I have to take off the headrests. Fortunately I position the seat normally just such that the rear seat will clear without taking off the headrests.

I don't know how people live with non-folding seats. In the 2.5 years I've had my Stinger I think I've had the rear seats raised maybe a week total. Not that I've got stuff in there all the time, but way more often than I have passengers in the back so I just leave 'em down.

I didn't do much outdoors-y stuff when I bought the car. Over the last six years that's changed and it totally would've been a deal-breaker at the time.

I bought a factory accessory cargo cover for my xB that covers the entire cargo floor area, the backs and up over part of the rear seats, it's like a thick canvas material. Works great because it's a pain in the rear end getting sand and dirt out of the cheap rear end velcro carpeting

Am I the only one that is not terribly perturbed by the fact that the tiny body on frame SUV with massive rear solid axle doesn't have a perfectly Dodge Caravan-esque folding flat seat?

The rear seat on my evo doesn't fold flat because there's two gently caress off huge beams bracing the chassis and a battery and a water reservoir behind the rear seat. Not even a pass thru.

My rear seats don't fold, either. But at least get a ballin' mini-fridge out of it.
