Stereotype posted:Yeah in Hawaii they just burn it. They use the aluminum (which is actually profitable to recycle) to coerce some company to also take the glass, since we don't have much landfill space here, but I assume the bury it in California somewhere. Wouldn't doubt it if the poo poo they don't want gets dumped as soon as they hit international waters

Right now out here it's the eerie stillness right before the storm kicks in. Clouds are rolling through fast but the sky is pretty empty.

I’m sure you are like most people that live around mobile. Most of the time when I reach out to my sister whenever there’s a hurricane in the gulf, she’s always like yeah you know how storms are around here- it is just an excuse for everybody to take a day off work and drink on their porch. But this one has our family nervous. I can’t believe it’s hitting mobile dead on.

Star Me Kitten posted:Yeh please keep us posted. Honestly that's my attitude at this point. I've been here for every storm in 31 years and they're all scary but it's never been devastating. When I was a kid we lived in a trailer and that thing is still standing to this day. My normal routine is right after the storm I go walking the neighborhood and make sure no one is in immediate danger. It's okay, I just ordered a few new masks so I can go outside during the smoke which means the fires are all going to go out the day before they arrive.
