The move to LCD screens was a huge step forward for portable gaming but it absolutely compromised the amount of hilarious punishment a Gameboy could cop. Kids used to tell me the clear ones broke more easily but mine fell out of a moving car multiple times with no issues

Makes a lot of sense if you look at the Game Boy's design, especially the transparent models. It's a lot bigger than it really needs to be, all that empty space probably absorbs impacts much better than modern designs that are as small as possible. The Game Boy was designed specifically as a children's toy after all, and an even younger demographic than the NES.

Nah he's fine. It's good to see someone actually giving a poo poo about politics and using a platform that is known for predominantly a younger demographic to actually expose/talk about political corruption and stuff going on within state and federal politics. It's a refreshing change from the part where 70% of Australia's news media is owned by rich conservative cunts pushing their own agenda through politicians who are clearly easily bought. I have an old Pikachu edition game boy colour, my old one got flogged by some prick out of dad's car with Pokemon Crystal version so my sister got me one she found for a birthday. P blessed but a rechargeable battery pack would make it better as would a backlit screen

Okay so a few years back I found my old purple gameboy color and pokemon yellow and one of my friends always accused me of never playing pokemon and lying about it for nerd cred so infront of a group of 5 i thought I'd show him up with it. Put new batteries in, switched it on and booted up fine. No save games found. Still copping stolen valor claims from those fuckers over it.

Old carts used a battery and a low power state to save the game It's possible to wire in a new battery and retain your old pokemans but the process is tricky as all hell
