I think Youtube Red lasted for 6 months, maybe a year. probably because it sounded like porn.

They have a promotion where if you're an Apple TV+ subscriber you can get CBS All Access and Showtime Anytime for $10, which is basically BOGO.

My Octopus Teacher on Netflix has a dumb title, but is one of the most beautiful and affecting nature documentaries I've seen. Highly recommended.

I swear I try to engage with Disney movies, but it's like my mind bounces off. My housemates watched Mulan tonight and I just... can't find anything interesting to think about, during the movie or after. It's like they take just enough pieces of various genres to present the most hollow possible product. I'd say it's inoffensive too but it sounds like they missed that mark this time.

So there's a Dragon's Dogma show on Netflix. Castlevania was surprisingly good, so I'm giving this one a shot. It's based on a video game, but I've never actually played it. One episode in, I'm undecided. Has anyone here played the game? Edit: And it's got a prestige-show opening, which is odd.

The production values are solid and the quality of the animation is generally good, but that's about the best I can say for it. The protagonist is the most generic dude imaginable and never really gets any more depth. More annoying though is that they've dialed up the edginess to maximum, to the point where it kinda feels farcical. They try to go for a corruption/downfall theme, but with only 7 episodes to cram that into, the steps on that path hit back to back so quickly it just turns into misery porn.

I've played through Dragon's Dogma twice and I can't think of a single reason to ever watch a series based on it. Like, absolutely none of it's charm comes from the narrative. The story is very much a slam the x button kind of scenario and the world is cool because it just a big D&D ripoff. Watching a show based on it sounds painful.

#Alive is very good and has an extremely dry sense of humour that I really enjoy. One thing that I find really cool about the zombies in it is that some of them are concerningly smart, and it's creepy as hell. SirSamVimes fucked around with this message at 11:00 on Sep 18, 2020 |

I liked #Alive too. The ramen commercial still running got a good laugh from me. Also The scene where the cop finally gets over powered and the little group stops attacking so that they can drag her over to the main horde was a little shock too. It was a good mix of scary rage zombies and smart zombies.

Maybe I'm just a simple man, but I've been enjoying the Dragon's Dogma show. Each episode has the protagonist kill a giant monster and then some horrible things happen to some characters. Sometimes justice is served, sometimes things go horribly wrong. It's a solid formula.
