They dropped the price of the Series S in Japan before it even came out.

Drop the Series X price, do it.

At that price folks would be better off with a 12TB external cold storage drive.

I'm tempted cause I know people are gonna say the price is poo poo but we are soon gonna see SSDs with the Playstation stamp on them for like 600AUD

SSD on Xbox is slower but the cards are still gonna be cheaper than upgrading a PS5 at launch or even in the first 2 years.

Prices don't come down that fast and in Australia we have to pay the unofficial Tech Tax. (Hi Apple, Adobe, Nvidia, Intel, MYOB)

Upgrading your Playstation hard drive will start slightly higher, but will drop a lot quicker, the Microsoft one probably won't drop much, if at all.

Yeah. There's a line of Switch SD cards with Mario on them here that for a while were bizarrely cheaper than the just standard ones. I don't know how that happened.

But Microsoft is working with multiple 3rd parties on it too, it's just that Seagate got out the gates first.

I don't think it was said anywhere that Seagate would be the exclusive and only maker of Xbox expansion drives. They have an existing branding deal with Microsoft and it's possible that there's some type of exclusivity clause but we could never know.

Don't expect anything either way. Use cold storage.

They are the exclusive partner 'at launch'.

...because they aren't partnered with anyone who is providing a proprietary one.

Yeah, that's what I mean. There could be Western Digital expansion drives out in six months or whatever. Or unofficial ones. There's no way to know and I really don't think anyone needs one anytime soon.
