my main distinct memory of the sopranos is the episode where they run afoul of an indian activist who wants to ban colombus day and their master plan to stop him involves getting this indian they know who runs a casino to talk to the guy except hes just a white dude with a great grandparent on the dawes registry so unsurprisingly the activist just tells him to gently caress off i find this anecdote useful for emphasizing that white people abusing indian birthright has been a known thing for a long time and elizabeth warren has zero excuse for thinking a dna test means jack poo poo in that context

Yeah the overall story of the glood place felt like kind of a mess, but I enjoyed the individual moments, like Janet begging everyone not to kill her, or Chidi trying to recover from seeing the Time Knife.AnimeIsTrash posted:The new season of Fargo came out and the first 2 episodes are quite good. Hell yeah. I really tried to give season 3 a shot but didn't get pulled into it the same way I did with season 1 and 2. Dreylad has issued a correction as of 01:42 on Sep 29, 2020 |

I really enjoyed that last season but drat I was appreciative of how well they just spin their wheels for a lot of it. It comes across as way less sweaty than most "we gotta fill some time" installments do.

1stGear posted:I just binged the entirety of The Good Place over a weekend and why is this dumb network comedy show making me cry so much Because it concisely and forcefully articulates a vision of reality in which self absorbed gently caress ups learn to truly care about each other, work hard to make the world a better place, and discover their best selves in service of the common good. Now compare that to the reality we live in. Why the gently caress wouldn’t you cry? And also it managed to sneak an explicit critique of capitalism onto the 2nd most popular tv channel in the United States and that kinda owns.

I mean I thought it was pretty shocking how they just straight out said that you gotta have death to make life meaningful. There's a lot of very Buddhist poo poo in The Good Place and it's disguised as a more traditional narrative.

ive been watching malcom in the middle for the first time in god knows how many years and its surprising how well it holds up. its interesting that there have been tons of comedies about poor or working class homes but they always live in total luxury, with huge beautiful houses. the malcom house is big but i like that they made it very clear its a loving shithole. i love their lovely overgrown garden full of weeds and daying grass lol they also deal with actual working class issues like not having any money for anything or having to work in a horrible place for no money. babypolis has issued a correction as of 16:06 on Oct 1, 2020 |

In the original Ghostbusters, are all the white guys co-owners of the business? So the only actual employees are the woman secretary and Ernie Hudson. Truly a Reagan era propaganda piece. All white men get to be business owners, and only lesser people are relegated to the role of wage worker.
