Gorin is a shitlib who was against putting the measure on the ballot that would fund the law enforcement review group, and she voted to give the Sheriff money to fight it. gently caress her.

Sonoma County Supervisor Susan Gorin evacuated her property in the Oakmont community of Santa Rosa at about 1 a.m. She is rebuilding a home damaged in the 2017 fires.

Gorin said she saw three neighboring houses in flames as she fled early Monday.

“We’re experienced with that,” she said of the fires. “Once you lose a house and represent thousands of folks who’ve lost homes, you become pretty fatalistic that this is a new way of life and, depressingly, a normal way of life, the megafires that are spreading throughout the West.”

It basically already has happened in Florida for years since you can only really get home insurance from either the federal/state programs or a handful of small local insurers.

lol and it wasn't even hurricanes that did that, it was sinkholes

which iirc can be attributed to climate change via drought and groundwater depletion/acidification

Some insurers (all? not sure) are already drastically slashing their maximum fire coverage, a friend's is down to 1.5k max. The home/rental insurance industry in general is gonna be a casualty of climate change in a few years, I think.

South Texas needs to watch this thing. The last GFS run I saw had it making landfall near the US/Mexico border as a hurricane because it just meanders around the southern Gulf for several days before heading more west

Oh they'll be fine. It's extremely dry af right now, so if it end up meandering over, the land will just gobble it right up.
