Doesn't make a ton of sense for it not to be Cindy. It would fall into that fakeout level of TV writing where it's a big shocking reveal but only because the writers withheld critical information.

Actually it was mentioned that vogelbaum used to oversee the sage grove facility, maybe Cindy's been there for way longer than we've thought. She sees him there and pops his head and everyone else there in a rage. Honestly I don't like it, this seasons writing is noticibley worse than the previous's. Hopefully they can stick the final episode.

We'll know for sure next week!

I’m not so sure it is Cindy cause I feel like the set up was earlier in the season when it happened to their FBI contact.

The Church plotline is just so tangential to the rest of the show that it HAS to be the Birthday Boy popping heads off

So, I might have been wincing and looking away. Maybe. Did Stormfront look surprised? I caught Homelander looking surprised.

Yeah idk what's going on there. I can't imagine theres anything that could happen in that testimony that would hurt Vought more than murdering a witness, a congressman, and several bystanders including a supe in broad daylight

Wow. So, I've been binging this series from the start over the last few days and hoo boy. That last episode gets real juicy at the end. Previous thoughts: One of the main characters' girlfriend getting exploded in the first ten minutes really sets the tone of the show and hooks the viewer in. I think just about every episode has had at least one scene where I just go "holy loving poo poo". It's over the top in exactly the right way, and it sounds way better than the comic series from what people have described. Homelander is loving terrifying in a way I've never seen a super-powered character portrayed; it's like what every Evil Superman take wishes it could be. Especially the parts with Butcher's wife and her son, it's like a slow motion hostage situation, simultaneously heartbreaking and horrifying. The Deep is an absolutely fascinating character. I love how his most authentic relationships are with sea creatures but he still manages to gently caress that up at every opportunity, and they do a great job of showing how alienated he is from his human companions. I'm a little meh on the whole Scientology angle but hopefully they can develop that in a good way in the next season. Latest episode: StashAugustine posted:Yeah idk what's going on there. I can't imagine theres anything that could happen in that testimony that would hurt Vought more than murdering a witness, a congressman, and several bystanders including a supe in broad daylight Yeah, this seems like a super clear casus belli for all out war on the superhero community. Granted, the series has been pretty liberal with letting Vought shape the media narrative to their whim, so it wouldn't be too surprising if they get away with it again, but sabotaging a specific congressional hearing like that seems a little too on the nose for a random act of terrorism. If I were a military commander I would be pushing to nuke every supe from orbit just to be sure.

That was the most tense hour of tv I've watched in a long time. It's gotta be the church setting something up to keep Vought on unsteady footing while they come in to offer assistance and support. You don't have a head honcho with facial hair like that unless you're up to something. I'd love to see Stormfront die at the end of the season but honestly I don't know, they've put a lot of time into mirroring real world events and it would feel really false if that all got swept aside quickly. We know from experience that it just doesn't go away like that.

everyone brought their facial acting A-game this episode, we had our usual good stuff from Homelander, Kimiko, A-Train, but we got some phenomenal stuff from Butcher, Becca, hell we had some terrific stuff from Ashley and Starlight

Old Kentucky Shark posted:No, Garth Ennis doesn't hate muslims and can write female characters who aren't literal prostitutes. Ennis is like a 6.5 on whatever scale where Miller is a 10. From a few pages back but uh he goes out of his way multiple times in the comic to make jokes about Muslims being pedophiles and terrorists and zooms in on a porno later on to make sure you see a woman in a hijab getting gangbanged. I dunno enough about Miller's output to compare them but Ennis' stuff is chock-full of racist garbage and he's really comfortable tossing slurs around. StashAugustine posted:Yeah idk what's going on there. Also I'm kinda baffled on where they're going with the head-popping stuff. Feels like they needed to spend more time with Cindy if it's going to become a major plot point and I dunno how they'd pull that off with one episode left unless it's meant to be establishing a hook for Season 3. Blowing up the hearing / killing anyone investigating supes really doesn't seem to gel with what little dialogue / motivation we've gotten from the character so far, but we're obviously meant to at least be strongly considering that they're behind it even if it ends up being misdirection.
