So I’m getting the error 918 won’t connect error, they make you feel like your account is banned. Apparently a lot of Steam accounts are getting this. I’ll dork around in single player I guess, hopefully they fix it soon. Popular belief is EA doesn’t have enough servers, but who knows. Edit: someone says they got through to EA support, they say it’s a known issue they’re furiously trying to patch. Yup, looks like it’s single player for me unless I want to refund and buy on origin. Played a quick pvp dogfight this morning in a TIE Interceptor -- cannot be overstated how much tighter your turn radius is when you pump all energy to engines. If that's not enough and you get stuck in a turning fight anyway, you can boost 2000 meters away in about two seconds, then pop a quick 180, switch energy to lasers, and pump some rebel scum full of plasma while they're still trying to bring their nose around on you.

Out of curiosity, do the character names chosen at the start of the story ever show up for any other purpose? Haven't seen them anywhere, but kind of annoying that the only way to change them appears to be restarting the entire story.

So, I'm running like 100+ FPS at all times, but when I turn my ship, it still feels kinda- choppy, I guess? Is there some setting I'm missing out on, or is this just how the game controls?

Just had a fantastic match where I joined a dogfight mode session in progress and the New Republic was down by like half as many kills as the full Imperial team. Hopped in an X-Wing and we came out with a win, and I got 1st place with 8-1-6 K: D :A I am extremely bad at this game so this probably says more about pubbies than anything else. Was still super satisfying though. Game's good.

Anyone else getting zero audio through the game? I tested my VR setup in the Steam VR lobby and audio works fine, but getting zero through the game. Can't figure out which of the settings I toggled to turn audio off.

I thought the same way, but I recently re-played Wing Commander 3 and realized that physics aren't real in space sims so it makes sense to have yaw control on the X axis - the ships just don't move the way would in a flight simulator and with pitch/roll on the main axis it's hard to keep them on target. At least in my experience.

I only logged in and haven't played a mission yet. I understand TrackIR isn't supported (hopefully only 'yet' and it will soon). Is it NEEDED though? That 360 look freedom? Like, in Elite it isn't NEEDED. In War Thunder it IS needed.

I have mine at 100% and not noticing anything like this, though I also don't remember seeing it at the default 50%.

Can anyone help me figure out joystick dead zones? I have a T-Flight Hotas X, and it really likes yawing to the left, and has a bit of a dead space before yawing to the right. Can I recalibrate the zero somewhere, or otherwise fix this? (It's a problem in E:D too, I just have been lazy so stopped playing that for a bit.)

Past that you might need to download a settings program from the manufacturer to fix it.

Ah, I guess I misunderstood your question. The big issue with sticks in this game is the massive deadzone and when you said 'lag' I thought you were referring to that instead of 1-1 replication of your controller position.
