So I have a little folder of my favorite Retro Raws and Nitros where I name each file after my favorite part/joke.

This Retro Raw from 1997 where Shawn is wearing a bandanna in a style Vinny compared to Tupac and Bryan notes he's looking at himself in the monitor.

Bryan as Shawn: "Man, I look hot in this bandanna. I look like Tupac today I was the first black WWF Champion."

https://media001.f4wonline.com/dmdocuments/051716bvshow.mp3

That line slays me every time.

I'm excited for this book. Definitely preordering.

Also, just a random note: I sometimes think Bryan and Vinny ae a bit too hyperbolic about things. I don't hate Michael Cole, for example. But having just watched Hardy vs. Styles vs. Zayn as per their recommendation, the camera cuts really are horrific. I didn't think camera work could detract from enjoyment this much.

When I was a kid, wrestling was just wrestling. As an adult, there's so much that goes into a great match or wrestling shows that goes above and beyond are the people in the match good at wrestling. Is the ref good at counting a nice, dramatic pinfall, is the camera not total poo poo, are the commentators making your ears bleed....you can have the best workers in the world in there and if all of these other criteria fail, the match can be ruined.

This reminds me when I used to work in the broadcast business. I would tell my director that one person having a bad day could ruin a whole show even if everyone else was having their best day. The producer the director the camera operators the sound engineer down to the teleprompter operator. Everything had to be working together even to just begin having a good show

hmmm listening to Denise Salcedo's appearance on WOL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Unkci3kvuqI

I'm not sure her pitch of a fun take on wrestling is right for the Wrestling Observer/Figure 4 audience which seems to be mainly interested in cynicism, stats and gossip.

It'll certainly be a different mood to most of the offerings.

New Talk is Jericho has Jericho and Lance going over their first match. I knew Jericho kept a diary of all of his matches, I did not remember that he gave them star ratings. 2.5 stars for his first match! I also did not know the promoter who wanted Jericho to be a cowboy only wanted him to be a cowboy because he misread Benoit's Pegasus Kid as a cowboy gimmick.

So does anyone know who Denise Salcedo is? I watched her interview on the WOL that was posted, but what are her credentials? Did she just do a lot of online video/podcasting?

(To clarify, I'm not asking for credentials as a "she doesn't belong" angle. She seems great! It's just they didn't really do a good job establishing who she is outside of "a wrestling fan".)

I checked it out for about 5 minutes. I'm not really a fan of shows with a single person talking alone for an hour so I'm not going to be listening in the future. She was always going about 500 miles an hour which is how a lot of these twitch personalities are and not something I'm into. If this brings in some of those kind of listeners then I'd say she's doing her job.

I'd compare it to Solomonster who I don't really listen to either but if you like Solomonster Sounds Off then you might be into "Salcedo's" Speak Now.

I'm not sure if your being sarcastic or not but that's exactly right. Having someone, be it Bryan or Garrett, to occasionally interject and provide a counter-point is nice to break up the pace. With someone like Dave you definitely need another person there to keep things on track these days. It doesn't need to be 50/50, 90/10 can be fine. If she had someone giving her a lead-in to different topics that would be helpful, it's just awkward when people give themselves their own introduction to a segment that doesn't sound any different and has the same exact format of person talking just as they were before.
