I've played through RA2 + YR a few times and never noticed the animation of the dog jumping in celebration at the end.

I'm pretty sure the locations of Yuri's power plants were revealed when you garrisoned the Space Needle. Seems a bit pointless, though, since you can garrison it a few seconds after the mission begins, so you might as well just have that map information right from the start.

Dog IFV gains spy detections capabilities, but it's hard to tell that's what happened. If you're using them as AA it's a straight upgrade, so may as well.

Dogs should have a Good Boy ability which when activated makes them run to a nearby enemy infantry wagging their tail so the infantry stops doing whatever it's doing to pet the dog for a few seconds.UED Special Ops posted:One other thing to mention about the Virus unit, those clouds of gas left behind when she kills an infantry are super lethal to infantry, and any infantry killed by a poison cloud spawns a fresh one, so clustered infantry can be wiped out incredibly quickly if you are not careful. Not sure if that makes up for the lower range though, as Gattling Tanks and Towers already are a major deterrent to infantry swarms. All anti-infantry has the same flaw, infantry isn't really a threat in the first place. It's only dangerous when garrisoned at which point anti infantry is completely useless until you've blown up the structure.

Yuri clones are a significant threat. Also guardian GIs will trade surprisingly cost effectively if you don't have a proper anti infantry counter. In terms of garrisons infantry forced out of a garrison will just happily walk into another building unless you can kill them quickly in the intervening time. High level initiate garrisons are remarkably nasty. Fangz fucked around with this message at 12:22 on Oct 7, 2020 |

It's really annoying that destroying garrisoned buildings doesn't deal any damage to the garrison and as noted above me, they just run into the next building if you don't have something on hand to kill them quickly. Snipers really are mvps in this mission. Yuri's forces mostly attack with infantry which gets airlifted in regularly (I don't think the production buildings in the base do much). You also get a few snipers every time you capture a power plant.

Complete with the gun port changing into a megaphone so it can woof as it leaps. Fangz posted:High level initiate garrisons are remarkably nasty. Very very true, and this is the one place where they are flat out superior to GIs and Conscripts, even Apoc. Tanks melt under a full garrison of them, and garrisoned they have the same range as garrisoned Allied and Soviet infantry I believe. Makes urban combat vs Yuri very nasty if you are not careful/have good scouting, one wrong move and oops there goes your tank force.

Allied Snipers caused no end of nerdrage about "rendering Yuri unusuable" in multiplayer. A few of them in IFVs can shut down a Yuri player's economy completely. You used to see games ban them before the Grand Cannon became the cheese unit du jour. They are certainly very very effective against Yuri Clones, and both outrange the Virus and fire at a faster rate. I always thought the Virus was specifically intended for use against entrenched GI sandbag positions or conscript waves. Yuri's defences are ironically vulnerable to infantry waves, and YR seems generally designed to encourage more infantry use. These missing scripted triggers are really weird. It's looking like the final YR patch triggered the removal of a whole load of scripted sequences across both original and YR campaigns. That's kinda sad, since the game is clearly diminished for it.

According to the wiki I'm using, it states it reveals the entire map. Same with my Prima Guide. As for Viruses, they have their uses. They're pretty great against Guardian GIs, and I can't see why a Yuri player wouldn't use gattling tanks or lashers to protect their miners.

I like how Bing mention that his company was forced to develop 'genetic software' for Yuri and everyone just instantly accept this instead of asking what the gently caress that even means. In the Red Alert universe genetic engineering is as simple as typing PRINT "HELLO WORLD!"

There's some really weird ones if you dig deep enough. You know how tanks will get get tossed around a bit by strong attacks? If you hit one with enough of them at fast enough without somehow destroying it first it'll flip over and explode. I only ever found out about it because I came across a youtube video where some guy just goes wild experimenting and it took an Iron Curtain charge and a massive fleet of Kirovs to trigger it. I have no idea where this would ever come into play but it's there. Edit: holy poo poo it can happen to ships too

Allied X04: Operation: Tomb Raided https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKAiV770Png Operation: Tomb Raided Yuri has managed to take control of Einstein with his mind control devices! You must rescue the professor at all costs and, if possible, destroy the Psychic Dominator in the area. Somewhere in Egypt. The map itself doesn't appear to be based on a real location. Location: Egypt Objective: Rescue Einstein and destroy Yuri's base in the area. Briefing: [NONE] Author's note: I wish that the setup for the Psychic Dominator's base was designed differently so that you didn't blow it up while making the rounds. This map is boring in light of the previous three. Name: Lt. Eva Aliases: None Affiliation: Allies Occupation: Tactical and Communications officer for the Commander Voiced/Played by: Athena Massey Lt. Eva is the Commander's tactics and communications officer, providing a vital supporting role in the Commander's control of his forces, and the battlefield. Name: Ben Carville Aliases: General Thorn Affiliation: Allies Occupation: Leading General of the US Forces. [UNDECEASED] Voiced/Played by: Barry Corbin Top military official for the United States of America's armed forces. Reports directly to the president. Enjoys antagonizing Tanya. Was temporarily subverted by the Soviet Union due to mind control weapons. Impressed by the Commander's ability to befriend Tanya. Killed before he could transfer to Europe when a suicide bomber infiltrated his HQ. Casually drops one of the best lines of all time related to time travel. Tank Destroyer RANGE: Medium ARMOR: Heavy WEAPON: Specially-developed SABOT rounds COST: 900 German scientists have developed the Tank Destroyer, a unit designed specifically to give German forces an edge against enemy armour. While very weak against structures or infantry, Tank Destroyers are extremely powerful against enemy vehicles, and can be used either to clear the way for your own attacks or to blunt incoming columns of enemy armour. Author's Note: I can't say I ever used these, and their usefulness relies entirely on whether or not you are facing the Soviets, rather than Yuri. That being said, its an alright specialist unit for under 1000 credits. Robot Control Center ARMOR: Wood COST: 600 POWER USAGE: 100 PURPOSE: Unlocks Robot Tank production The Robot Control Center allows the Allies to build Robot Tanks. This building can be built after the production and placement of an Allied War Factory. This building ceases to function if it has low/no power. Author's Note: Provides a very useful unit against Yuri, but beware of your power situation. Robot Tank RANGE: Short-Medium ARMOR: Heavy WEAPON: Robot Cannon COST: 600 The main strength of the Robot Tank is that it cannot be mind controlled because there is no human driver onboard this assault vehicle. Robot Tanks hover, allowing them to cross water. The ability to create Robot Tanks is granted with the construction of a Robot Control Center. These cease to function if they have low/no power. Author's Note: A cheap, spammable tank that floats and can't be mind controlled. It's only downsides being that it has a small health pool and can be rendered useless if the commander cannot power them. Aftermath: Faster than Par Time: "With your speed and accuracy Einstein was rescued and Yuri's installation is no more. Yuri realizes now you're a force to be reckoned with." Slower than Par Time: "You rescued Einstein but Yuri was able to withdraw key forces before his base was destroyed." Jobbo_Fett fucked around with this message at 15:00 on Dec 9, 2020 |
