Any current recommendations for dash cams with the best video quality? I had a recent accident with an idiot who just pulled out in front of me turning left from a side street then tried to claim it was somehow my fault. No witnesses stopped and while the police fortunately sided with me I'd rather not leave something like that up to chance again.

Both are reliable, at least within warranty. I don't know of any dash cams that last forever yet.

yeah he did a perfectly safe and legal left turn while you were anxiously chanting "gogogogogogo", then signaled his lane change while you, having changed lanes illegally in the middle of the intersection, tried to cut him off on the right. then you honked at him for not running over a pedestrian. way to go

Happy to take criticism, still relatively new to driving and it’s a city you have to take your spot or someone else will take it from you. I have the camera to learn if needed and I sent the clip to others and everyone else said he was in the wrong and should’ve clearly seen I was where he was slowly turning into. I talk to myself and the dog far too much, I should turn the mic off ha.

He should have checked his blind spot, but you should have waited until you exited the intersection to change lanes (and used your signal before doing so), and when you saw his signal go on you should have let him move over instead of trying to gun it around him. Keep on practicing!

When I was a kid my dad brought home these VHS tapes called the Smith System and I think they should be mandatory. Edit : although usually (there are 50 states + more territories etc) it is legal to turn into any left lane if it's a single left turn lane. Going from a single turn lane onto a multi-lane road like that is one of those things where caution and basic courtesy, irrespective of any particular state law (because I don't even remember what the law is in my state, tbh), is the best choice. Some people (like me) will turn into the most appropriate lane for wherever we're planning on going - if I were the Pilot driver I would have turned into the rightmost lane since I knew I'd be turning ASAP. But some people are taught to turn into inside lane every time, and then make a separate indicated lane change after the turn is complete. Give the driver ahead of you enough time to make their decision, since they were there before you. Wait a few seconds to figure out where they want to go, and *then* if they cut you off you can be indignant about it.

Yeah it’s a bad habit for that particular intersection as I pretty much took the line that everyone takes, and the guy in front seemed a bit lost earlier in the journey so I should’ve considered he wasn’t as locked in on that left lane as I originally thought. I’m not really a horn whacker (as per other clip) I was just pretty terrified a much bigger vehicle looked to be closing in on me. A live and learn moment for sure, I’d much rather be in the position of saying I’m completely in the clear when things like this happen.

You moved into his blind spot while he was turning and (correctly) focused on the road in front of him. He predictably lost track of your position and then you were surprised when he tried to change lanes on you. Stay out of people’s blind spots and this won’t happen.

This is why I always refuse to go when I can't see in the other lanes when someone stops in the lane closest to me to let me out. I've had people get visibly irritated with me not crossing multiple lanes when I can't see traffic in all those lanes because of it.

I don't understand this complaint. Suppose you are in slow-moving traffic on a road (or even lane) that intersects another road; they have a stop sign, and you don't. You don't let people "zipper" in, or will block the intersection preventing turns from the other direction?
