I just played Jhoulis Chacin on The Show (and lost by 1). My baseball obsessed 8th grader thought this was the coolest thing ever, until he sent JC a text or something that he'd watched the game, and now they're "friends" and chatting on whatever social media platform kids use these days. I don't think I've seen the teenager this excited in...ever?

THIS IS HOW YOU MARKET TO YOUTH, MLB

That’s very cool. Did you just randomly match up with him? How did you know it was him?

I guess you gotta if the alternatives are D'Arnaud's bat on the bench or Ozuna in the field in the Texas Toolshed but this sounds rough

this actually isn't the first time a thing like this has happened: earlier this year the Harris/Blitzer group (who tried to buy the Mets, and already own the 76ers, New Jersey Devils, and Crystal Palace) tried to recruit John Chayka, the GM of the Phoenix Coyotes and a huge fancystats guy, to be head of advanced stats for their entire stable of clubs but especially Palace. only problem is that Chayka lied to Yotes ownership about the job interview he had with Harris/Blitzer. this didn't sit well and Chayka resigned, and on top of that he was told that Harris/Blitzer had moved on to new candidates after that.

with more US money going into the Premier League and US owners loving themselves advanced metrics, expect to see more of this.

The Astros never had much of a chance. The Rays are more talented than them in basically every facet. You could maybe give the Astros the slight edge in lineup but it's more of a push really

The Rays don't have the household names in the lineup like Altuve, Springer, etc. but those guys are actually the ones hitting now

Fans in these games seems so incredibly stupid. Arnt the players families also there? In the bubble with them? Or are they not allowed at the games where they could get infected by fans and bring it back to the bubble?

They started him at third for the meaningless regular season finale against the Red Sox. I think that's about the time I learned that Pablo Sandoval was on the Braves.
