It is great, especially for free, but keep in mind it is a much more realism oriented game compared to most modern military shoot games. Also, make sure you immediately mute voice chat because the racism is literally non-stop.

Both Rising Storm and Red Orchestra were this way. They're some really great games to actually play, but they just have the chuddiest playerbase possible.

Firstly, thanks to this thread for mentioning Epic every Thursday, because I never remember myself. Secondly, has anyone played Star Wars Squadron on Epic? I honestly don't know Epic really works as I've only either ever accessed it through GOG Galaxy, but I have a thing for Star Wars space shooters and I have a $10 coupon. I'd buy it on PS4 but I'm not paying for PS+.

If I'm wrong on this, let me know. I heard that EA games on Steam/EGS do launch through "Origin", but it's a lightweight version of Origin that only runs while the game is running. It's just a thin layer to authenticate your EA account. Haven't bought any of the newer EA games on Steam yet though so haven't used it myself.

I personally really enjoy Rising Storm 2, for me it's the right balance between action filled and fun, and satisfyingly tactical and realistic. MGs , flanking, and teamwork are useful, but you don't walk for 20 minutes then die immediately. As others have pointed out though the racism is very present. Custom servers do help with this somewhat

Spirits of Xanadu is pretty great and one of only a few games on that list I wouldn't call shovelware. Gateways is another. I'd happily pay for both of them (and I did! years ago!)
