Safari Disco Lion posted:I love him and would like to see his Asparagus Freak Out Dance. I will definitely try to get it on tape. I think I'll have to withhold it for a few days to reset him though - he's had a few more bits today and, while he's very happy to eat them, he doesn't actually go berserk . The last bit I gave him, he refused to eat because he knew I was going out and he has awful separation anxiety. Even so, he managed to eat it while I was out - the call of the spargus was just too much for him.

I thought this was https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/13/us/sunfish-wareham-police.html Massachusetts Town Begs Residents to Stop Calling About Fish (photo in link) The calls about it had become so voluminous, however, that the Wareham Department of Natural Resources was compelled to issue a plea on Facebook. The fish was swimming, it said, adding: “It is not stranded or suffering. The sunfish is FINE.” It added, “PLEASE STOP CALLING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT ABOUT THIS SUNFISH!!” “We get it,” he added, referring to the concern residents had expressed. “But 911 isn’t a good avenue to report fish that are swimming around.” Mr. Buckminster recalled one summer more than 20 years ago when the dorsal fin of a sunfish terrified swimmers at Onset Beach. “Everyone went running out of the water,” he said, “and it was just this big goofy fish.” Chris Whitton, owner of the Neat Lady Fishing Company, which operates fishing boats in Buzzards Bay, said it was not unusual for sunfish to swim right up to his boats. “I’ve had them come right up to the side of the boat, and they lift one eye to look at you and you’re looking back at it,” he said. “They’re very docile and they’re not going to hurt anybody.” Ms. Carson said spitting was the most aggressive behavior she had seen a sunfish exhibit. She added that she has used kayaks and ropes to tow stranded sunfish into deeper water. She recalled one rescue when a stranded sunfish became so frustrated that it swam to one of the kayakers who was trying to help it and spat. The fish then swam to Ms. Carson and spat at her, she said.

https://twitter.com/NevilleSouthall/status/1316453602710491136 (Also - can't remember if I told this story or not - but Big Nev is also a pretty heartwarming character. Worked as a binman (garbage man for you Yanks) as a youngster before becoming a professional footballer, was one of the best goalkeepers in the world in the 80s, but alas just before the multi-million salary era so instead ended up working as a teacher and coach at an Exclusion Unit, a school where kids are sent when expelled from other schools. He's always hated bullies and seen his role in life to stick up for the bullied (and hates Tories with the pure, elemental force that only a Welshman who spent the 80s in Liverpool can feel) and so he regularly hands over his 170k-follower account to charities and advocates for mental illness, addiction, LGBTQ rights and sex workers - but also spends a lot of time like your favourite uncle online cracking terrible jokes, ranting about footballers these days, and sending really cute animal pics. I admired him as a player when I was a kid, to find out that he's actually one of the soundest people on the planet is just pure loving joy)
