I know most of the talk of "intellectual echo chambers" is bullshit, but jesus loving Christ. What kind of social group are you in where you just assume that everyone has heard of Proudhon? Oh yeah, Proudhon, that person group or event that everyone is always talking about. I know we've all been cooped up and spending more time on the internet recently, but my god. Proudhon. I don't actually know the tenets of libertarian socialism but it's common enough a phrase and weirdly oxymoronic-sounding that the first time you encounter it you look it up and it sticks with you. Rojava/the YPG are libertarian socialists, as are the Zapatistas, and even Zach la Rocha of Rage Against the Machine lol, so there you go. It's not exactly an obscure branch of leftist thought.

libertarian socialism is talking about how amazing the cake is going to taste, how delicious the frosting will be, how the cake will be huge and enough for us all, but also opposing mixing, baking, and are iffy on approving of the concept of “ingredients”

Nathan's a huge dork, but he's our huge dork and mostly harmless. He does have a terminal case of lawyer brain where he comes up with contrarian positions because he likes arguing with people. The Current Affairs podcast has a recurring segment where they try to come up with the hottest takes and that's where his idea that people shouldn't read Marx comes from.

NJR is fine and I really don’t think it’s that weird that someone who grew up with British parents would pick up some of their speech patterns. kind of a silly thing to make a big deal of. he’s dead wrong about Marx but whatever he seems like a good guy for the most part
