Oh and I’m loving the Lincoln project ads comparing Trump to Castro and Chavez. It’s fun watching all those dirty tricks and marketing tactics getting used against Trump. it’s kind of like that episode in the 1980s where the bad guys and good guys would team up to fight against “drug dealers”, but not stupid and for actual good. https://youtu.b/EUwF8sfaBek NWS add e after b https://youtu.be/pPFTAcAeMqE Marshal Prolapse fucked around with this message at 00:33 on Oct 24, 2020 |

There’s a really good episode of Popular Front that does a good job of explaining that a lot of the Boogaloo Bois lionize George Floyd and Eric Garner alongside people like Lavoy Finnicum as people executed by the state, but there are certainly white supremacist/nationalist elements within their ranks as well. By and large they’re complete shitheads, but they’re pretty much stopped clocks in terms of being right about the excesses of state power and police violence, but it’s not exactly an uncontroversial stance to be a leftist and say that the federal government used significantly excessive force at Waco and Ruby Ridge.

Also it takes real white man privilege/entitlement to think that politically murdering a few random cops will be a net good for the actually oppressed people in America.

Thanks for the link. The podcast has a bunch of really really interesting topics in the episode guide. Type of stuff I find super neat to read about, but usually is limited to digital print content.

Let me know if this isn't cool and ill edit it out. I'm not involved in this in any way other than throwing a donation at it, but I figure given the number of people here who have been in Guam, Micronesia, etc here that some people might be interested. Its a fundraiser put on to try and get some Christmas lights for the courthouse on Yap to try and bring something other than misery to the island this year. https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3945293&pagenumber=1&perpage=40

Fister Roboto posted:Yep, turns out that private companies have a vested interest in convincing everyone that public services are terrible. You aren't wrong, but it is a gross generalization. I grew up in a military family so I had Tricare (it's real good) I joined the military so I had Tricare (mediocre for on-base care but excellent for anything you needed to be sent out for) I got out and got a good job and had good private insurance and honestly it was amazing although very expensive. The VA has been horrible compared to both of those systems. I don't directly compare my excellent private insurance with everyone else's because I know that there are different levels and providers and costs, but the care I received was outstanding. The care I receive from the VA is barely adequate. Last year they forgot me in a freezing cold emergency room with a fever for 3 hours before my panicked wife called looking for me and someone found me. and honestly the DFW region VA is better than the Seattle region VA was. Even worse, so much of my care is outsourced to VA contract community outpatient clinics who will make appointments without my knowledge and then I get angrygrams about missing appointments that I never scheduled and have on several occasions prescribed for medications that I am allergic to, not just kind of allergic like anaphylactic shock allergic. Socialized medicine can be done right as shown by Tricare, but the VA feels like it is done poorly on purpose. the physical therapist I was seeing in town had to stop seeing me because they stopped getting paid and so I stopped going to physical therapy because I can't drive an hour and a half each way twice a week for appointments at the main hospital.
