So really notice the good lighting because the sharp edges of poo poo casts nice shadows on flat surfaces and it looks obviously like it is doing stuff. But in a more complex scene obviously its still making it look nice but a lot of the wow factor is lost.

Going forward, RT is obviously the way to go, in terms of fidelity and, as mentioned, ease of development, but going from games that had pretty good lighting anyway. it's not an immediate "wow visually so much better!", Even if it actually is.

It's much easier to be wowed by RT reflections and diffuse though, since those can look instantly like an upgrade.

From the video I saw of Metro Exodus it's interiors with windows where it makes the biggest difference. Light coming through doorways etc looks far more realistic. Exterior shots don't look any better at a glance.
