Yeah but just imagine if the longplayer video they used had looked around the rooms and interacted with stuff or had gone back to the homeless guy afterwards and that kinda stuff.

There's so much great material there that they never got a chance to see is all I'm saying.

She didn't really touch on it, but this game has a crazy amount of extra detail in it. You can click on a lot of paintings and objects to take a closer look at them, sometimes when you take pictures they can show up on your office corkboard, small details that aren't necessary to the plot but serve as immerse you deeper into the game. Used to play it a lot when I was younger and still have my old copy. Maybe I'll do an LP of it one of these days.

Film Brain was invited to this year's London Film Festival as a critic (and the festival has mostly been held remotely so he could watch most of the films from his home) and so he has been able to put up reviews of many of the films featured. Today he put up a review of a 2D animated film from Ireland about the daughter of the town's werewolf hunter coming to grips with becoming a werewolf herself which he thinks may be his favorite film of the year:

yea I hope she does a follow up about that too because that was nuts, but yea I guess in an already 1 hour+ video about 'here's how a crazy 30 year old straight woman got fuckin buck WILD about a fandom' there was no time to cover the other wild rear end conspiracies.

There have to be talent agents who specialize in youtube by now, right? They probably get to know each other by having the same representation or by asking for crossover exposure.

While the whole "Breadtube" thing is kind of a failed/conflicted effort the fact that a lot of non-lovely people agree on a lot of things and that crossovers sell makes perfect sense.

Wasn’t breadtube just wishful thinking by internet posters writing erotic friendfiction about their favorite youtube channels? It’s true insofar as people know each other and collaborate, plus have some prominent self-declared enemies in common, but I don’t think it was ever a branding thing or some kind of deliberate effort, though I don’t really follow many of the more narrowly political communists/anarchists who don’t do scripts or jokes.

There are definitely youtubers with agents but they're in the 10+ million subscriber count where they're doing stuff like getting book deals or showing up as a guest on a TV show.

almost every creator I've seen described as part of breadtube seems to think "breadtube" is a silly label that they'd rather do without, so probably

Nah, there are plenty of agents/managers working with smaller channels. Human Media Group for example. Often YouTubers like to pretend that there aren’t companies behind them, as it adds to the aura of authenticity that’s so important on the platform, but if you see an in-video advertisement (like for Curiosity Stream, Raycon, or whatever the flavor of the month is now), there’s a 70% chance that the channel has some level of management that is helping to run/organize things.

I guess, and maybe I'm just a curmudgeon. But I watch Person A's channel because I like the poo poo they do. If I wanted to watch Person B's stuff I'd watch their channel. But hey, I can live without watching one video out of however many a channel has, it's not my thing but it's probably great for the people who love both. But it can be a bummer when I see a personality I enjoy pop out a video on a subject that makes me go "Oh man, I bet this will be super interesting" But half the video is someone else talking about the subject and I have absolutely no interest in what that other guy has to say.

collabs and outright promoting other people are literally the way to find new people you do like

Promoting other people is different from a collab though, I love the eyeballzone and I've found some really amazing channels through it, and almost always check out the channel linked. But I'd probably be less inclined to watch one of his videos if he did another landlord video but also another guy was just there to also commentate on how much landlords sucked.

Since we're talking cooking shows there's always Matty Matheson, and his "Just a Dash" series is what happens when a cooking show steps into Adult Swim territory. It's been on a slide into surreal through season 1 and season 2 is kicking the weird into high gear. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdwrGGv-T6s

Or watch it from the start and watch a cooking show slowly slide into not giving a gently caress.
