Tsaven Nava was from Chicago and came to Volo when we had a CA meetup years ago. His rapey behavior was exposed and he was perma banned shortly after that.

Beautiful bike. I think I missed the window on getting a reasonably priced 916/996/998. The prices these days are crazy on good examples especially any SPS or R models.

Here’s my bike again.

I put the obnoxious ART stubby can back on as the bike just didn’t seem as fun with the OEM can. I’ve got a few things I want / need to do. New radiator because original is pretty corroded and get a oil sump so I can connect the middle bottom fairing correctly as the connections were badly corroded and they attach to now missing connections on the oil sump.

I like this bike and it’s great to ride but it’s huge and I don’t always fancy lugging it about. Really want an everyday bike so I can keep this nice. Been looking at SV650, early MT 07 and even Honda 500s but then I took out the new street triple RS and I’m in love.

Too expensive though so I might wait to see the price of this new Trident they are releasing.

All aggressive streetfighter bikes, to me, have this look of a fully faired bike that was crashed but the owner just decided to take the fairing off, leave the headlights and call it a day, but especially the Street Triple.

Not knocking anyone who loves the look, I just can’t unsee it now.

Yes this is as terrifying as it looks, but holds up fine. Its actually really nice, you don't even notice your bike is hanging off your hitch mount after a while.

That is exactly how street fighters began, by people crashing their up-and-over frame gixxers and realizing they look badass without fairings. That is 100% the intended look and the modern ones with a bunch of tiny Micheal Bay triangles covering all the awkward stuff are a bunch of crap. Google speed triple 955 if you want to see the very first factory effort at this idea, it is literally a daytona with the fairing removed. The further back you go the more 'honest' they look, the first gen tuono for example still has the fairing-shaped coolant tank from the mille.

I think that’s exactly what a streetfighter is supposed to be.

I don’t care for the look of the Speed or Street Triple, especially compared to the Daytona, or the Ducati Streetfighter compared to the Panigale (or basically anything), but I think the MT bikes look pretty good, as well as the Kawasaki Z bikes. And the Honda Neo-sports cafe look fantastic. But I’m not sure if those Japanese bikes are really streetfighters or just naked/standard.

Yeah. I definitely think there’s a way to make a streetfighter look decent, it’s just not any of the ways the factories are pumping out now, probably for the reasons Slavvy mentioned. I can appreciate some of them aesthetically, and some bother me more than others, in the end I just don’t think I like look but that’s just down to personal taste. The ST955 is probably the closest thing I get to liking the style, but honestly to me it just looks like a Hawk GT.

If you're going to go offroad, then it's worth thinking about zip tying the tie down straps to the rings so they don't come off when bouncing around unloads them a little. I've never had it happen but I try to be careful and zip ties are cheap and easy.

And also consider running a strap from one of the rear grab handles or a fork tube over the tailgate and into a d-ring on the floor of your bed. It doesn't need to be super tight but it'll cut down on the swaying and shock forces on the load-bearing straps.

Indiana never had DST until 2006. They eventually changed to DST despite huge resistance because of the varying time differences with other states during the DST months.

Parts are terrible to get but not aprilia terrible. To work on, at least the 4 cylinder bikes are identical to what you'd get if Ducati decided to make an i4 996 - everything is in the same place, assembled the same way, and they're quite reliable; the instrument clusters and other fiddly electrical bits are the only stuff that really goes wrong on them. The 3 cylinder has...a reputation, but I've never worked on one.
