Been dipping my toe into jazz again. Listening to stuff like Pharaoh Sanders and Albert Ayler. I'm listening to My Name Is Albert Ayler atm, but I was pretty blown away by Spiritual Unity, as an album. It is free jazz so ymmv, but if this is your kind of thing I really recommend giving it a listen. Ayler was a huge influence on not just jazz but avant-garde, experimental, noise, and hardcore, but I wouldn't say he usually sounds as "harsh" as Sonny Sharrock/Last Exit. Really wild sax player.

they are really a mixed bag of genres, but there is no doubt they hearken back to 1990s sounds and I guess I love those, and I am real happy those genres are having a minor resurgence with talented artists

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xm-Ppiu8DeA

tonight i had some time so i went through youtube and listed to at least part of many of Emancipator's songs and i'm really looking forward to listening to them properly. it's been awhile since i've wanted to listen to a whole album in order and it's a really nice feeling

that's really nice, the clarinet and, later, violin brings this faint klezmer vibe to it which I appreciate

I usually listen to music while driving or keeping busy with other stuff, so actually checking out all the music in this thread has been difficult. So i went through this whole thread backwards for the last... you know what, don't ask me how long this took ok?... while playing a game, adding every video to a playlist. i'm probably not the only person with this use case, so i thought id share it. I will keep it up to date for a while, checking maybe once a week.

Also apparently "gently caress On The Beach - Powerviolence Forever" is considered music for children and is unable to be added to playlists lol

thank you i was just thinking how i wished that there was a playlist for this thread

Wire is very good, I think their later 80s stuff is very underrated compared to their first 3 albums. Definitely worth digging into.

my initial exposure to them was that song "three girl rhumba" which elastica (allegedly) ripped off for "connection"

tbh they're really close

(but I also think connection is a good tune, not that this makes stealing for a commercial purpose right)

Elastica apparently ripped off more Wire songs too according to this comparison video on YouTube. They are the best Wire cover band.

Rough day so I'm listening to The Undivided Five by A Winged Victory For The Sullen, I bought it early this year but even then it almost slipped into my collection without proper attention. Glad I came back to it, it rivals Atomos and that is a hell of an accomplishment.
