Maybe throw in a bit of 'those BLM protestors got to shut down the highway and got tear gassed, shot with rubber bullets, and occasionally run over for it so why can't I?' Not sure how shutting down traffic is supposed to convince anyone to vote for your candidate though.

As a tactic you usually use it to bring awareness. In this case that doesn't work because we all know they are giant assholes. But for them, I assume it's about encouraging people to not vote. It fulfills the same role as the old Klan parades used to have. Act as a reminder that they exist as a barely veiled threat, and to encourage each other.

MazelTovCocktail posted:Which reminds me of this slight footnote in American History. InRangeTV did a video on it too. The Battle of Hayes Pond is pretty great. But there is some context missing from that article that I suspect this thread might enjoy. There was a reason the Klan went after the Lumbee tribe. The Klan in NC had a bit of a set back in 1957. Robert F. Williams and Dr. Albert Perry joined their local chapter of the NAACP. The pair made a push to integrate the local pools, which they knew would get the Klan worked up. Knowing this, they put together a group of 50 or so Black veterans and reached out to the NRA to get a local chapter formed. They left out the black bit and the NRA sent them a bunch of mil-surp to promote target shooting. The local Klan had a meeting, then a parade to get themselves worked up as they drove to Dr. Perry's house to burn it down. They did the usual make a lot of noise, have torches, shoot guns in the air poo poo. They were completely surprised to find the Black Armed Guard waiting for them. From prepared positions with sandbags and the works. The Black Armed Guard aimed low, but they aimed low repeatedly and with a generous use of ammo. I am sure it will be no shock that the Klan had a police escort. The Klan displayed the same lack of fortitude as they would at Hayes Pond. And Monroe banned the Klan. Also the pool was integrated. Unfortunately the local cops convinced some white people who got lost in the Black part of Monroe to falsely accuse Robert F. Williams of kidnapping. He fled to Cuba then China. It wasn't till the 70s when he was cleared. But he influenced the Civil Rights movement. And he wrote Negroes with Guns which influenced the Black Panthers.

If election day numbers are anything close to what they are historically, this will be the highest voter turnout nationwide ever by a large amount.

Last I saw was we are on pace to be the highest turnout since 1908. Trump is in NC saying that they are going to declare victory early then the lawyers are going to sue to stop any more counting because “they could have counted these votes before, we need to know the winner election night.” So get ready for the poo poo show to be in.

The polls caught 2016 late tanking, though most don't remember it that way. NBC/WSJ's polling was particularly hilarious this year because: https://twitter.com/CarrieNBCNews/status/1322901957028257800 It looks like FL/AZ/NC will report quick, with GA/OH probably Wednesday. Likely none of the Trumpy states will get called on Tuesday due to the lack of polling and lovely margins. There's a decent chance that we know a winner on Tuesday night / Wednesday-ish and a lot of this dumb garbage gets defused. Any dumb Donnie lawsuits will probably get tossed too, quickly.
