Well, at least my fiance and I are on the same page about interracial kids now. Not raising a kid in Trump's America. e; since that comes off hosed up, we'd have also been on the same page going the other way.

I will simply not be raising a child of any racial background, in Trump's America or indeed anyone's America; or anyone's other countries either.

I feel bad for a buddy of mine. He has run for Denton city council twice now and he’s gotten absolutely creamed both times by like 40 points.

We're out here asking people to promise $27 to the guy who oversaw the the beginning of the camps, and who also said that your cousin who sold lovely brick weed should get the death penalty. One of my favorite talking points for years has been that almost every Mexican border county in America is overwhelmingly democratic. That red arrow is horrifying.

I'm not remotely texan and I know there's plenty of things you can imagine contributing to a better performance for trump but doesn't stuff like this seem... kind of implausible? Like is there any precedent for this kind of shift anywhere else in the country in recent elections?

# ? Nov 4, 2020 07:44 |

I don’t know the vote count but if nobody votes or there are new electors in favor of Trump replacing Dems that didn’t vote, you’ll see a shift like that. There’s a quote by some GOP piece of poo poo that says a non-vote is a +1 and a vote for Trump is a +2 for Republicans. A previous voter not voting is worth so much to Republicans, and Trump has apparently inspired a lot of new voters too.

We saw swings like that in R counties this very night, just mostly not to the tune of, you know, flipping them. Just like these weren't flipped. Even by those standards 28 points is a LOT though What's important to find out is if these margin changes were due to actual votes changing or D voters not showing up. Turnout was up across the state but that doesn't mean that turnout in THESE COUNTIES was up. There's also the factor of covid.

Speaking as someone born and raised in the RGV, Trump’s an rear end in a top hat, Valley people are assholes. Hillary skated by on Bill’s coattails + Valley people didn’t know it would be fun to root for a piece of poo poo like Trump. If you want big RGV margins moving forward I think your best bet is a Hispanic Texan D nominee, one who speaks fluent Spanish (and not Beto/Castro fluent, like actually fluent), and who is a bit of a strong personality. I don’t think progressive politics are gonna move the needle much anymore, the cat is out of the bag.

AP just called TX21 for Chip Roy. My racist xenophobic rear end in a top hat rep will return for another 2 years. FWIW he won against Davis by far more than he did against the very centralist guy who ran in 2018 so this is why I'm hesitant to think more socialism is the answer. Or maybe it's just misogyny. I have no idea.

The 5.5M rings true as basically a cap but I don't really know. Assuming anything under 5M is a mistake though. Well turns out even the 5.5M was still not the real ceiling. Since he's at over 5.7M with only 94% reporting.
