Disco Elysium is good but gets way to high of its own farts way to often. Much like the people who heap endless praise on it.

i don't want to play any game where it's overhead and the cursor turns into a sword when you click to attack on someone or worse, you click on a picture of a sword in the UI bar at the bottom of your screen, so your cursor turns into a sword so you can click

I want an endless 3rd person hack and slash co-op dungeon crawler with satisfying combat and physics-based traps that are good enough to make it fun to watch your buddy get ragdolled and that are routinely updated and expanded to keep it fresh and unpredictable I am fully okay with this also having waves of skeletons

Are there any co-op games where you level up unique / asymmetric abilities (you know, like warrior skills vs mage skills etc) that don't have violence in them? There are no board games that fit that description (it comes close, but, never quite). It seems odd to me that no one has 'reallllly' cracked the "generic style of game you can fit loads of different themes around" that isn't about violence. I'm not against violence at all, it's just there are some people I know who are put off by it that I'd like to board game with, and it struck me as odd how limited it is?

Nah, you don't level up unique abilities. Pandemic is definitely the closest, and I think Pandemic legacy probably comes 'real' close, but it's still not quite there. Pandemic is actually kinda far away from what I'm after too, because it suffers more than any other game from quarterbacking. Like, Spirit Island is super close, despite obviously having lots of violence, because it could easily be rethemed to be just spooking people off. (appreciate one of them already does that, but you know).

I've seen several game sites talk about how awesome Astro's Playroom for the PS5 is. I guess it's the only real new game they've got for it right now. But the stuff I've seen just looks like Mario Odyssey plus playstation references minus interesting gameplay elements. I guess the graphics are good but honestly the returns on better graphics have pretty much fully diminished for me at this point so I don't really care.

If you fail as a lawyer you end up in something called "doc review." Imagine spending x years in law school, and then your vocation becomes "sit in front of computer, read document, and press button onscreen indicating if document is relevant, or not relevant." That is becoming a modern lawyer, the game. In phoenix wright, there's an uplifting theme - don't make up evidence, believe in the truth, etc. It's something of a send-up of the criminal justice center. The only themes I can think of for "family court attorney" the game are "don't ever get married, if you do, don't even get divorced, hell is other people."
