If I'm recognizing that icon rightly, that twitter account is one of the small trans twitter people Contra posted a tweet from back in her weak attempt to apologize for the Buck Angel video, which was immediately undermined by the aforementioned pulling up random tweets expressing a dislike of her + one who said she should be backhanded (they're not that one.) I can see how they'd still be pissed and feel like Contra threw them under the bus from that poo poo after getting swarmed by her fans. I also feel like hate-following her months later to give updates on interviews and make excessively graphic cartoonish parodies of her remarks is still kind of too much.

Just that if you've still got a massive audience, didn't take any kind of active hit and still have people wanting to interview you to hear about how hard it is to be you: were you actually cancelled? She's free to feel however she wants about whatever she wants, but it seems silly to stand on a stage people you, yourself, have maligned will never even get close to and say how hard it is to be cancelled, speaking to an audience that waits on your every word - which you still have because...cancellation means your audience only grows, right?

I just checked her channel and she's made literally half as many videos this year as the previous two years, it seems like this whole affair has had a pretty big effect on how much her ideas are getting out there. I wouldn't call it cancelling because I wouldn't call anything cancelling it's a dumb term but you can't say it's had no effect on her, it's probably had more of an effect than any other case I've seen of someone "being cancelled."

Yeah sure they go on and on about how "super loving hard" it is for the "semi-passable transes" to explain their pronouns when they go to trans/nb-inclusive bars and berate the non passing, but has anyone considered that they feel really lonely about it? Truly being affluent and passing is the hardest thing, the rest of us just can't imagine what it's like.

Okay but to me contra straddles the line between advocating for trans rights and trans people whilst also pushing for the harmful idea that there are tiers of acceptable "transness" with non binary and non passing people being lesser or a burden to the movement as a whole. Not every transperson is able to straight up come out and some explore non binary identities before they gain the confidence to do so

I feel Contra has this thing where she's still trying to deal with her own identity while having this big-rear end platform and becoming one of the biggest trans voices on YouTube. The whole NB debacle started with her feeling weird about getting neutral pronouns while she's been doing everything "right" to pass as female. You add that to having grown up in 4chan culture and the most confrontational Internet places you can think of and well... Twitter is also a poo poo place for any sort of discourse, because if you voice something stupid out loud you have all of five minutes to issue an apology before you start getting yelled at if you got any sort of audience.
