Like when you think of an actor saying "What's my motivation?" Mann'll have some. pretty sure weyland-yutani sent that family to investigate the ship after hearing ripley's account of the aliens that kill you by laying eggs in your tummy. so already the status quo for everyone on that planet is that the corporation that owns everything necessary for you and your family to live (as well as the means by which you could ever leave, an incredible power imbalance) is willing to expose 100% of the colonist-employees on that planet (unknowingly!) to what is by firsthand account an incredibly deadly alien species that wiped out all of the employees on another, different vessel that they also owned. cool, cool. i would love to live this way. i love you elon. I think it was Red Mars that got into the physical complexities of living on Mars and according to that book, you'd have to live several feet underground in order to avoid constant exposure to stellar radiation due to the lack of a magnetosphere. No thank you.

The original scene as written and shot has him getting blown by a ghost in an old civil war fort (if you look closely, he's wearing an outfit with giant epaulettes) but the movie clearly shows them sleeping at the firehouse and then uses a classic wavy dream sequence fade so the "canon" interpretation is that it's just a dream.

The mood slime is literally entirely Akroyd's jizz. A river of it. edit both in the film it is his character's jizz and the prop used on-set is entirely Dan Akroyd, the actor's, jizz

Egon is super focused on being technically correct, naturally. Ray has obviously been practicing because he's an enthusiastic man child. And Peter doesn't give a gently caress at all. Actors train to be naturalistic and ignore the camera, so it can be interesting to see them playing their characters being unnatural in front of one.

In the movie it's in the middle of a montage that doesn't allude to any other dream-related stuff or any fakery. Or at least, it doesn't insinuate that it didn't happen at all, since the series has other people who's minds get controlled/visited by other ghosts as well. So even if the ghost was in his dream it doesn't mean that it wasn't real, it would mean that the ghost really was in his head giving him head. God Hole posted:pretty sure weyland-yutani sent that family to investigate the ship after hearing ripley's account of the aliens that kill you by laying eggs in your tummy. It was Burke who ordered the colonist to go check it out. I'm not actually to sure how involved Weyland was in the Hadley's Hope oopsie, since they were quite skeptical of Ripley when they're talking to her in the beginning. It's more Burke who set the whole thing in motion, the rest of the company had no interest in what she was saying, they were just upset she destroyed the ship. Which seems callous and horrible, but from their perspective she's talking nonsense about a creature they've got no record of existing, and they'd been exploring for another 57 years while she was napping. I'm not too sure if there is as big a power imbalance as you're saying, it seems more like regular corporate bureaucratic bullshit, which is of course capable of creating power imbalances but it's also not like there is anybody (besides Burke) acting out of malice. In the directors cut the family that finds the alien first radios in and wants reassurance that their claim will be honored for finding it, and they get that reassurance. That doesn't sound like the kind of place that would shut the air off for getting mouthy or demanding raises. As long as I didn't have to work with Burke's slimey rear end, I could see taking a job with Weyland, is what I'm saying.

Dunno if it helps or hinders anything, but the listing for the ghost who may or may not have given a hummer is called "Dream Ghost". So, either he was asleep, or she was a dream girl (and surprisingly, turns out she was a playboy model).
