Human-Tevarin Wars

I have never stopped to read any of this stuff before, it just makes no sense.

So we had no military to speak of, a war kicked off we had some mass conscription event to try tackle these alien dudes and we amazingly despite no preparation we won and conquered them. ok.

But despite having no territory to speak of 60 years later a un surrendered fleet comes back for part two. This time despite having a large and prepared army this time war drags on for 7 years and we win because they all commit suicide at the end for reasons? wtf

This makes as much sense as Erwin Rommel coming back with his secrete un surrendered panzer divisions from 1945. He sets out to storm the white house in an effort to reclaim Germanys lost honour. Despite having old equipment manned by senior citizens the war drags on for ten years, it ends only becuase Rommel commits suicide at feet of the statue of liberty because he is 106 and could not afford US health care. Most people now agree that war and high priced health care are bad.

Look at this scrub who never played a TBS on 'kill all to delete a faction' mode. Obviously you go for the econ-boom strategy, then when an AI declares war on you buy a military in one turn and crush it. Humanity took the only planet(s) the AI had, then allowed a peace treaty to be signed. Afterwards, the AI saw that the humans had disbanded their military so after the obligatory peace treaty period declared war again. It had no more territory to take, so the player redeployed the garrison troops that hadn't been disbanded and let the AI suicide onto them for however long it took to die while booming the rest of the empire.

Totally realistic.

Remember that the setting for the game is a mixture of the Roman Marcomannic Wars and WWII. So we're fighting the barbarian space lizards with the help of Chinese turtles (we're the Roman/English nazi American marine legionaries who just voted a libertarian techno-utopist into power as their democratic emperor).

Oh okay, space birds, got it. So this supplemental stuff that you have highlighted for us, will for sure be explained in the single player campaign, that has a star studded cast, and one failed actress.

I'm genuinely trying to piece this together in a manner that won't piss me off, because this is all kinda sounding like a really lovely and complicated knockoff of the Freespace storyline. See that one the humans go to war with the Vasudans over a mistranslation on a diplomatic mission, and you're square in the middle of it just when the much scarier and technologically superior threat (the Shivans) shows up and starts turning your missions into failures

You think Stimperor would outlaw something that caused so many civilian deaths? You need to reread "in the last 500 years"

The Sickening And Heartbreaking Truths Of The Fourth Stimpire

In the last 500 years, the Fourth Stimpire has dominated four systems, which it has united into one starzone, Stimsis. The Fourth Stimpire has origins from the Ten Empire War in which 10 of the United Stimpires revolted against each rules. All empires except for the fourth swore freedom upon their citizens. There is no free speech in the Fourth Stimpire, and all self-controlled transportation has been made illegal without undergoing painful medical verification methods, in which arteries are severed without pain resistant, operated entirely by machines. The way they work claim to be the most hygenic and healthy way possible, but these machines often rub against pain points, causing great deals of pain to patients. The heart is then extracted from the body and placed into a glass grinding machine. Various energy centers are also dissected and replaced with dangerous transplants. After the painful, 52 hour surgical procedure, patients will then have to use a fused guidance tool, which pumps painful resistors into the body every 2 hours. The pain they have caused is so bad, the victim would freeze in a tense position. They would then collapse afterwards.

Sexual stimulation in any way within the grounds of the Fourth Stimpire is strictly prohibited, and anyone detected even touching their sexual organs will be subjected to a penectomy or if the offender was a female, they would then have a razor inserted into their ovaries. They would pump a blue solution into the womb until the stitchings burst. Offenders would also be forced to show their operated areas in public, and they would always harass and punch them to a pulp, against their will.

Otherwise, offenders would be tazed with the worst type of electricity in the systematic district, causing so much pain, the victim would scream and flail in madness. The pain would also triple every second, but no death would be incurred. This is also used in combat against enemy units, which is why all UEE forces must wear the upgraded suit to block this effect.

However, enertainment is also questionable in UEE grounds. Sporting events end with the losing team being rounded into a grinder and shredded on live television, boxing matches end with the loser having their hands removed without anasthesia, flight races would end with the losers having their arms and legs removed, then being injected with insanity, for entertainment. People are also forced into these events, by undergoing a painful 127 hour procedure which involves tweaking the muscles so they will not listen to brain commands, and then having a painful drug injected which also causes madness if the player is not sporting. This is all for entertainment, and anyone not watching any of it during sporting times and cheering for the winning team, they will be imprisoned into galactic camps.

Snuff films are also broadcast, and actors are actually murdered just for entertainment. Stealth droids also guide these forced actors into behaving exactly as the director dreams, otherwise they will be punished by being placed into a macerator and having their execution written into the film. Any film that does not feature someone being murdered will be burned and the entire crew behind it will be executed in the most grotesque way possible - vivisection.

All executions are broadcast, and anyone who misses even a millisecond, even by blinking, will be executed. All citizens must boo to the person being executed, and the family is gathered to be injected with eternators, which cause pain forever, making them immoral but feeling the pain tenfold every millisecond. They cannot pass out, but they will feel like it forever.

Conquests by this Stimpire end in the planet being razed, and all the citizens being executed in the same way as their citizens are. The planet is then destroyed and all remnants of it are removed, and any memories of it will be erased instantly from civil minds. People who are also killed are also erased from memories, and all memories of them, including toys and pictures, are destroyed.

Prisoners undergo 40,000 years of relentless and endless labor, and anyone not complying is sentenced to the eternator injection. All prisoners injected with eternators are placed into capsules and launched into far space, then the room is closed tight to ensure maximum insanity. Some prisoners are also subjected to the removal of blood, the lungs, the liver, the genitals, the skeleton, the muscles, the eyes, and even the injection of pressure. Prisoners sentenced to pressure chambers are locked in until they are inflated to a high level. The decompression is then stopped to make sure they are inflated and uncomfortable.

Children born on the 14th of July are subjected to the removal of their skeleton and an implant of a silver liquid to replace it. The nervous sysem is also injected in various parts to ensure it is five times more sensitive than the average.

Restaurants also are ordered to serve civil meat, and anyone attending must give themself up to be cooked into a grotesque meal. They are cooked alive, undergoing extreme pain, and are then subjected to industrial grinders and blenders. The Stimpire orders at least 1 million citizens to be dispatched every day, as they are afraid the population may overthrow them. But only one planet is cared for, and the rest are banned from eating, drinking, talking, using technology, touching anyone, wearing unauthorized clothes, touching buildings, or walking a centimeter out of designated routes. Civil enforcers are on every planet, and they are engineered so that they are 40 times larger than the 300 quadrillion population. At least 7 billion die every 12 hours under this rule.

Thoughts are also surveyed, and anyone who does not think anything to loving the Stimpire with more than their capabilities will be sentenced to a prison. Prisoners who are punished for this violation will meet their greatest fear, only to have it amplified so they will turn insane as they imagine it exactly as they fear it. They then undergo a painful extraction of all fluids, to be replaced by a toxin which causes permanent irritation. The unknown substance keeps the subject aging normally, except they will never die. Prisoners punished in this way are unable to be reverted, despite many efforts, and they will never be able to be disposed.

The sickening truths have been revealed only today, and invigilation teams are still investigating the truths without setting foot in the galactic space of this sickening empire.

Actually the Human are the technologically dominant race in the galaxy (Imperial Romans/Modern Americans, remember?) who have the largest population and control the most planets but who are also extremely vulnerable to attacks from the others because reasons.

Here is the lore for the first contact with the Tevarin

quote:

"On Elysium IV, there were an indigenous species calling themselves the Tevarin. Though sentient and intelligent, they have not evolved to our level technologically. Recommend that we establish contact and bring them into the UPE. It is a wonderful opportunity to elevate the species into the modern era."

Dr. Kellar Lench's official assessment of the Tevarin, Nov. 15, 2541 19:19 EST[2][3]

So in Nov 15, 2541 we meet a less developed race. Less than a year later the less developed race hands starts capturing planets...

quote:

Capture of Idris IV (2542)

Idris IV was soon captured by the Tevarin, the planet suffering a series of orbital bombardments. Though most of the population fled before the Tevarin finally took the planet, a few hundred stayed. Rachel Locke, a local with no military training, organized the survivors for increasingly daring strikes to disrupt the Tevarin occupiers. The group became known as the Greys.

At the central plaza of Tanys (Now called Lost Quad), the Greys were almost extinguished. A raid on what would become the Tevarin planetary defense system went drastically wrong. Rachel Locke's second-in-command, Alanna Shaw, and a large number of Greys were captured, executed and displayed in the plaza to try and demoralize the remaining Greys from further operations. It did not have the desired effect

Oh boy! You birdbrains just meesed with the wrong group of plucky humans with no military training!

By the way, after the first Tevarin war the humans first exiled them from their planet and then loving terraformed it because that's unironically what the writers think the cool dudes do. And later the birds came back to live without mayor issues because the writers don't know what terraforming means.

The thing that really occurs to me about stimpire.txt is just how overwhelmingly juvenile it is. Whoever wrote that really needs a therapist.

Like its one thing to write a really dark fiction with really seedy elements, but just "everybody in this universe gets tortured forever" doesn't make any sense. If anybody who goes to a restaurant gets mulched into food who gets to eat the food? Who are the employees? What do people sustain on in order to build out the stimpire? I've already put more thought into it than the author.

How has this all been going on for 500 years? Nobody is allowed to touch buildings, much less anything fun. Even if you start with trillions, the population can crash to near zero in under a hundred years if there aren't trillions of babies being born, and nothing about the stimpire implies they would encourage or allow mass births on the uncared for planets.

I guess not zero if there are a bunch of immortal torture victims, but they don't seem capable of useful work. Making dissidents immortal seems like a bad plan overall. Surely just killing them would be cheaper and more convenient?

One of them, certainly. They have a few in store.

Just look at the trouble they're creating for themselves: rather than just have VAT applied (or not applied) to everything, they chose this nonsensical we-don't-show-VAT-but-then-we-add-it-but-then-when-you-use-the-credits-you-pay-non-VAT-prices-using-a-lower-amount-of-dollars-than-what-you-paid system

Rather than: you are shown VAT-prices or not. This applies to everything. If you buy a $30 gift card (incl. VAT), you get… [drumroll]… $30 credits-with-VAT that you can spend on a $30 ship-with-VAT or two $15 ships-with-VAT. Alternatively, if VAT does not apply to you, you buy a $25 gift card (no VAT), which gives you [even longer drumroll] $25 worth of no-VAT-credit that you can use to buy a $25 no-VAT-ship or two $12.50 no-VAT-ships. If you allow gift card transactions between players, you translate form one to the other, and this is the only time the two will mix.

Lore, languages, custom server manuals... anything non-programming related is what CIG excels at.
Excels is a bit of an exaggeration. They manage to produce something (excluding that manual) and they produce it more consistently than anything else, but that's it. Same could be said about products of their bowels.

Has Roberts ever done a Ted Talk? It seems like something he would do, especially in the early days of crowdfunding.

He did some presentations, yeah, that insane chart about how they'll have four times the effective money from crowdfunding is based on it.

I don't think he did a ted talk but he was pretty full of himself early on, the arrogance is something kind lost when other people look at this thread and the years of history since.

That’s definitely a lot of static art assets.

I've thought that about the sports teams, if the losers get thrown into industrial grinders then after the first season you'd only have...

Anyone know how good the idris will be for exploration?

Thinking about melting my account and buying an idris, orion, msr, c2, endeavour and a few other ships during the IAE but wanted to know whether the idris has got any major shortcomings for exploration. To my knowledge it should e pretty good as it has that big scanner dish but I'd love some help.

Sanest reply:

As everything about the game and the Idris is mechanics wise still in limbo and mostly speculation, the only thing I can currently speculate on, Is that the biggest problem with exploration are the sizes of the jumppoints. Ie the Idris is big so you cannot fit it in every jumppoint. At best you could launch a smaller craft and let it make the smaller jumppoint jumps leaving the Idris behind
