And even though it's probably Yuasa's weakest work, it's still very interesting. So I would recommend it, just keep your expectations in check Also iirc Yuasa wasn't as involved in this series as DC

Japan Sinks has a really rough and messy patch in the middle and the animation falls apart in places but it has a strong core message and pretty likeable characters. And a scene where a bunch of Japanese nationalists show up to immediately die horribly.

AFAIK Wing was the first Gundam to appear on Argentinian TV, so it was totally my gateway drug into anime  It was surprising to discover Italy was the first country abroad to get Gundam.

Anime's pretty much always been big in Italy. They were really cheap to acquire for syndication so they'd basically jam pack morning and evening kids tv with anime. They'd compose entire new theme songs and had pretty good translations and dubs as I understand it. It was actually an Italian's translation of Italian Saint Seiya dub that got me into the show; it was very hardcore and dramatic stuff. This is also why Italian raws are used so frequently for both manga and anime, there's a big market for it there so they get high quality releases of shows and manga. Like I'm pretty sure that Violence Jack manga uses the Italian raws because they're so much better than Japanese sources for example e: I'm less sure about this one but I'm pretty sure some of the best raws for Sailor Moon are from Italy as well?

I remember a custom map for Starcraft that was Gundam-themed and you chose a series you wanted your character to be from, and there were things that explained that Gundam Wing was not actually the first or only Gundam series but I preferred DBZ: The Android Saga, even though it always broke because it required whoever picked Piccolo and Trunks to stick around for the whole map and inevitably someone would disconnect
