Bottom Liner posted:To be fair there’s no tracing anywhere because 47 states are in the deep red of “uncontrolled spread” and tracing is near impossible. That is totally fair. I've seen some stuff suggesting Disney isn't doing proper testing, tracing, and quarantining of employees though I haven't been following that closely enough to really know.

Anecdotally they aren't doing anything. In the first week of reopening there was an Animal Kingdom cast member that was positive and they didn't test any of the rest of the kitchen or anything.

This has nothing to do with Disney but we don't have a general theme park chat thread. Herschend Entertainment (Dollywood, Silver Dollar City, Dolly Parton's Stampede) is so good. We saw that they extended all 2020 annual passes for the first few months of 2021 because they were closed in the early months of the pandemic, with an option to renew the pass through the rest of the year for a discounted rate. The extension website had some weird language, though, so i called, and it turns out that if you didn't use your 2020 pass at all, they're just automatically giving a full 2021 pass, no input from us needed. Considering you're not guaranteed to get value from a pass any given year, and the park has been open for quite a while now, this seems nice and generous.

I've been to Dollywood twice and it's a loving must-visit if you're in the area. Not just because Dolly is the queen, but because it actually has really solid rides and a very extensive gift/souvenir selection. Plus you'll never go hungry because all the food is Southern so it's a stupid amount of calories for the price. My new three-person company is hopefully getting to take a trip in January. Also, make sure to extend it into a Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg trip. Pigeon Forge is up to 2 distilleries now.

Fame Douglas posted:Imagine this person getting to experience classic stained glass windows in Europe and realizing it isn't just Disney kitch I don't think they're saying "Disney invented stained glass." The opening of the mainline Kingdom Hearts games all start on this huge window that's laid out in a strongly pattern not unlike a wall clock. I'd wager the odds that the Imagineer who designed that deliberately tried to appeal to gamers/weebs is probably about 70% or so. Yes there are the types who watch Hunchback and think the designs copied from real-life Notre Dame are "hidden Mickeys", but the resemblance is too uncanny for that.

TheBigBudgetSequel posted:Really come a long way since this ad, huh? It's not even that. Disney wants to let someone else figure out the ROW and build out the infrastructure, then pick it up for a song when the company ends up in bankruptcy ten years from now because they can't make their debt service payments. Then they can rebrand it as RideDisney and have a direct high speed link from the airport to the resort. Sharing tracks with Sunrail for an east-west connector throws a huge wrench in the plans, because Sunrail is a public venture that Disney can't control.

I'd say at least Disney Security is accountable to someone unlike the real cops, though the story of how iThemePark got banned from WDW is mostly nutso bullshit. (Well, what obviously broke the camel's back and got him trespassed was that he was communicated intending to sue the company over said nutso bullshit, but it was still nutso bullshit.)

Fartington Butts posted:Haven't heard of them before, but what'd they do? Searching is only giving me their Twitter and FB. He alleges that a plainclothes security person would tail him for years, including areas outside the parks, ride monorails with him, and even enter the restrooms with him and watch him, and that this has been going on for seven years or so. He finally had it with this and when he found the guy sitting on a bench at Epcot watching him he took the guy's picture and went to Guest Relations to complain about harassment. In comes the Security manager who deadpans that the photo isn't security and is totally just some random guest so you should delete it right now while I watch you. iTP refuses and goes home, goes to Epcot the next day, and finds they've written up a trespass for him. Now that's his side of the story summarized. It could be that there's something he didn't include, or maybe he's a legit creepshow in which case we'll probably hear about his Universal ban coming soon. My belief is that he tipped too much about his intentions to take the company to court, so it's easier for someone to tell their boss "I got rid of that guy who was trying to collect material for a lawsuit" than "that guy is probably trying to sue us but I dunno I let him in anyway." Sounds a little bonkers to me. Why would the park bother trailing a dude for years with the same plainclothes person over just trespassing him to begin with? One costs a hell of a lot more. Was he like early AdamTheWoo where he would constantly try to get backstage or get video of things that they didn't want video of?

I dunno. It all sounded over the top to me. I'm a rather paranoid person about such things because I've been potentially deemed suspicious at casinos where the security is much more intense, and it still sounded a little farfetched.

For your convenience I skipped to the part where his security guard paranoia begins with the same guard stalking him all over property from 2013-2017, but the final event at Epcot is at about 15 min or so.
