FistEnergy posted:The floor is $10 plus interest (10.40) up until the final merger vote, which is a day or two before the ticker change and the SPAC ticker being delisted as a result. The floor is fairly reliable up until that point. Ok so the idea is you just get out before it actually merges to ensure you can't lose money?

Boozie posted:Ok so the idea is you just get out before it actually merges to ensure you can't lose money? That is certainly what I'm doing after holding HYLN too long. But then I didn't hold SBE long enough... More SPAC chat: PSTH has options. I can't figure out why I shouldn't be buying PSTH at $24 and selling monthly 25 calls for ~$1 for 4-4.5% every month. In 2-3 months you have made more than you were risking down to NAV and if they do end up landing Stripe or whatever the current rumor is you close out with a little more gain. Or I can sell a June 25 call for almost $5, lock up that money for 6 months for 20% with a reasonable worst case scenario that everything collapses and it falls to NAV and I made 0% or some other weird edge cases that cause me to lose money because this could lock me up through the merger.

The only SPAC options I would ever sell are below NAV puts because it's very very unlikely they'll go ITM. I dont mess with SPAC options though. Just units, commons, and warrants. Usually commons.

I have like 10k in spy puts expiring (almost definitely worthless) in December lmao. This would really suck rear end if I wasn’t completely secure in my employment. I just watched the big short tonight and I’m so curious as to why half the country living in poverty isn’t having a negative impact on business. Like what is the mechanism that is keeping everything going? Just unlimited money from the fed to the banks to lend to companies that have plummeting profit? Will there really never be a big correction? I’m drinking hot toddy’s rn with good bourbon and walnut liqueur.

Once the Fed stepped in to backstop the market, people concluded that the world wasn't going to end and that eventually we will come out of this event and resume the bull market and economic expansion. There are a few changes that are likely to be more permanent like a decrease in business travel and an increase in remote work, but overall the global economy isn't going to collapse so it's time to find targets of investment opportunity.

There are a few changes that are likely to be more permanent like a decrease in business travel and an increase in remote work, but overall the global economy isn't going to collapse so it's time to find targets of investment opportunity. The things to be scared of were all true: massive unemployment, businesses and offices closing down, constant increasing death rates, etc. These all have massive, massive effects on the fundamentals of financial analysis. The problem is that a shitload of investors are very greedy right now and are leaning/lurching/swandiving into the market despite the fact that there is very little reason to do so other than the fact that everyone else is right now. Again, the bad things happened and are continuing to happen. The vaccines are not here and are not ready to be distributed, and they’re still a ways off. To that end, I am not aggressively investing right now I’m just kinda sitting on blue chips and keeping my contributions rolling. I did buy some far off SPY puts, but not too much, mostly as a hedge. Never forget that people who knew exactly what was going on, and were fully aware of the house of cards of 2008, continued to press harder on the gas until it all came crashing down. Being right doesn’t mean you make any money.

If the collector had given you the $5300 and told you to just spend the money for him you’d basically be a SPAC
