So the UK imported Little Owls as house pets to remove cockroaches and the like. They don't share an ecological niche with anything else in the UK so they're one of the rare invasive species that doesn't cause any issues. Despite all that my wife says we cannot get little owls for the house for the frankly spurious reason that we don't have any cockroaches. (Edit: I know that's not a Little Owl)

I was just cuddling my dog and remembered that I got him because my mother rang a landline in an ad on the back page of the Irish Times and that is so insanely oldschool, but still netted me an extraorinarily good lil doggy. the only downside to border collies is that they are Too Smart and you have to keep them very busy or else they could go insane. one of those breeds where you need a yard and something for the dog to do or else you will have problems. not one of those breeds that you can just ignore a lot of the time as it does its own thing, like a cat, but if you want a dog companion and you spend hours together every day then a border collie is great because they are smart, fast, friendly, and loyal
