A lot of mum cats will chirp at their kittens, at first likely to test when they are starting to hear and after that it’s likely to announce that mum is entering the nest or to call the kittens over to where she is. If you watch a kitten cam that has a mum and kittens of the right age you’ll be able to hear the chirping. It’s adorable.
