Is there a fudge deadline? I was thinking of ordering a few bags for my nearest and dearest, but OBVIOUSLY won't get round to it for a little while yet.

Nope! I’m using a different model- all the fudge is already made, so will be dispatched once the order is received.

In theory I’m moving on the 11th, so there’ll be an interruption of service from about wednesday next week (assuming it actually loving happens, don’t get me started...) but otherwise as long as the stock lasts I can take orders :)

40k can be relatively inexpensive if you're not buying FW models or direct from GW or anything. A box of 20 ork boyz is £20 which is less than an Xbox game. If you get the boxes on a third party reseller site it can be even cheaper £/model. Most gaming clubs do escalation leagues as well where you go from, say, 100 points to 200 points to 500 to 750 to 1000 etc. so you can incrementally increase your army size as your budget suits.

Anyway, that's how I justify it to my fiance.

It's a bit hit & miss but I think that's the nature of sketch comedy, you can never be 100% bangers.

Constable Savage is pretty funny despite not exactly being a subtle satire of the polis. And I can't see darts on the telly without thinking of the NTNON bit. And Rowan Atkinson at the Tory Conference is good and depressingly still relevant 40 years on. (Content warning for a n-bomb though)

Fantasy accents: I mostly didn't used to bother with accents for RPG characters but since play has moved largely to discord I've found it VERY helpful, not to mention enjoyable, to do accents for my characters, as it makes it a little clearer when speech is intended to be in character rather than out of character.
My current project is Grigori Whitehammer, a dwarven oath of vengeance paladin. His backstory is that his mining village was bought out by capitalists, and a ton of his coworkers were killed in the attempted revolution. So his oath of vengeance is specifically against capitalists.

Full on, David Harbour in Black Widow soviet accent, quotes from the communist manifesto, has a warhammer with a bust of Marx & Engels on either end, and a sickle in the off-hand.

I have definitely seen the value of accents since getting into Critical Role, but IMHO dwarves should be Russian, elves should be irish, and halflings welsh. Humans British, tieflings southern drawl and dragonborn German.

It's interesting because it kind of mirrors something that happened in translation of Greek comedy - a lot of the national stereotypes associated with the various cities became a lot easier to understand if you make the spartans glaswegian, the boetians cornish etc.

It's interesting seeing how Americans use their own accents for regional stuff. In the UK we kind of understand the stereotypes associated with valley girl, alabama, new york, boston, minnesota thanks to Fargo, but not really much more than that. I saw an RP where they gave the dockworkers Massachusetts accents and it was interesting.

If you want a fun fantasy skirmish game for low investment, I would recommend Frostgrave. The book is available cheaply as a PDF, and you can use any miniatures you like.

Each player is a wizard + squad of minions heading into a destroyed city to loot it for magic treasure. Sometimes a wandering monster will turn up and wreak havoc on the battlefield.

It has a fun meta game between skirmishes where you use your loot to upgrade your wizard's hideout and hire better minions.

They sort of did and they sort of didn't - it's mostly used as a way of conveying character rather than a direct comparison of Soviet republics to Anglosphere areas.

For example, they give Stalin a Cockney accent even though Josef Jugashvili came from a small rural community in Georgia (and oddly, like Hitler, was often mocked behind his back for his "yokel" accent) - a more accurate English regional accent would have been Welsh or maybe one from the American Georgia. Stalin's *character* - a scary bastard who used to rob banks - fits the Cockney stereotype pretty well though.

Ayoade would make a good Q, but he really doesn't have the presence to be Bond. Idris Elba is the name bandied around a lot and he's definitely got the presence, but if they wanted to make it properly modern they'd let him keep that Canning Town twang. Alas while the world is now ready for a black Bond, it's definitely not ready for a Cockney one, even though Bond swaggering into a casino going "Alright cunts, Bond 'ere, where's the birds?" and generally being more of a Moore than a Connery is definitely what the series needs now.

Oliver Stone's Alexander did something like that IIRC, in a specifically Greek/Hellenic context (to bring it back to the original point), with an attempt to use contemporary accents to suggest classical geographic origins. Much like the rest of the film, it was kind of cool and interesting in theory but ultimately a bit pointless and poorly executed.

That was supposed to be positive! Getting kids to read the classics is always good, especially if there's low literacy rates - that old mantra about how reading more is the biggest indicator of success reguardless of background.
