the wall street california water casino is hilarious because The futures will be financially settled, as opposed to requiring the actual physical delivery of water, and are based on the Nasdaq Veles California Water Index started two years ago. oh, ok. it's not tied to any real world effects at all. it's purely a way to extract cash from governments and ratepayers. the water is coming out of government pipes that are fed by government and utility reservoirs the governments include the federal government (Bureau of Reclamation, ACE), the State, municipal water utilities and urban water districts (Hetch Hetchy, Owens Valley, others), and special districts like irrigation districts. There are also big public and private electric utilities and small companies with small hydroelectric dams that pump the water up and down, but it eventually ends up in a river that flows into an irrigation ditch or the delta intakes. None of these agencies and companies can make water. If it doesn't fall in the watershed, we don't get it. water rights are based on who got there first, and reaganism made its way into the water system already, so farmers can sell their subsidized water allotment to urban water districts for 15x what they paid for it. So... the sickos found a way to financialize and gamble on that. edit: If you look closely you can actually pinpoint the exact moment poser greg12's mind shatters into a million pieces.
